How will you establish an activity framework for your clients?

Successfully onboarding your clients to Synnch is the most important part or their journey, it will form a positive initial impression, and set the tone for all future interaction with the platform. Onboarding is the process of uploading user and claim data to Synnch, and there are several ways to achieve this. Onboarding can be broken down into four parts:

  • Company Data: entity, industry, and other portal requirements.

  • Claim data: projects, activities, and experiments.

  • Employee data: users, staff, position, and function.

  • Expenditure data: payroll, and OPEX.

Claim data

There are two approaches to onboarding claim data:

  1. Uploading a recent claim

  2. Establishing a new activity framework

The objective is to provide your client with the foundation to begin recordkeeping ASAP. Uploading a recent claim is the quickest method to onboard claim data. When using this approach, its important you assist/instruct your client to reassess last years activities for the current financial year. This is a good starting point for self-assessment in Synnch, as you can ask your client if a given activity is still active, and how their theories and experiments have evolved year on year.

Proactively scoping your clients current R&D program into Synnch at the time of onboarding results in the best recordkeeping outcomes, as your clients current yeah activities are front of mind, and they will find it easier to document them.

The initial onboard does not need to be strictly eligible, and oftentimes, it can’t be, as eligibility occurs further down the project lifecycle. The initial onboard does not need to be overly complex, its best to use your clients internal project names or naming conventions. The most important component of a successful onboard, is the establishment of testable hypotheses, and experiments designed to test them. This is the key determinant of successful record-keeping in Synnch, and a key compliance milestone. If a hypothesis can’t be captured at the time of onboarding, technical variables can be listed as an alternative.

Onboarding with Xero Integration

The Xero integration offers a practical advantage at onboarding, as all staff within company payroll can be mapped, assigned roles, and invited to Synnch via email automatically. You can assist your client to lead this process and self-assess their whole company payroll in minutes.

Staff can be assigned Synnch user roles and permissions, allowing access to Synnch, or they can be assigned as ‘staff’ meaning they can be added to a timesheet, but can’t access Synnch. Wage and salary data is mapped and stored in Synnch for all staff and users, regardless of employment classification. The Xero integration is a great way to demonstrate immediate value in Synnch at onboarding.
