The Learn App provides two analytics views for tracking how your learners are progressing. The Engagement tab shows who's started and completed Roleplay Sessions. The Results tab shows scores, skill improvement, and performance distribution. Together, they give you a complete picture of learner performance.
✍️ Who can see this data: Managers see performance data for their own team, and admins see data across the whole organization. Learners can see only their own results, not other learners' data.

Engagement and Results tabs
✍️ Managers see data for their own team, and admins see data across the organization.
Engagement Tab: Tracking Participation
The Engagement tab shows how learners are moving through their assigned Sessions, from first opening a Session to completing it. Use it to see participation at a glance: who has started, who has finished, and who still needs a nudge. This is the view to check when you want to know whether your team is showing up and staying on track to finish on time.
Engagement tab
Engagement Headline Metrics
The headline metrics at the top of the tab give you the headline participation figures:
Assigned learners — Total number of learners assigned to the Session
Start rate — Percentage of learners who have started, with the learner count below
Completion rate — Percentage of learners who have completed, with the learner count below
Retry rate — Percentage of learners who have retried, with the learner count below
Engagement Summary Cards
What to look for:
A low start rate. This points to an awareness gap. Resend the announcement or explain why the Session matters.
A start rate higher than the completion rate. Learners are opening the Session but not finishing. Look for where they drop off, or ask them for feedback.
The retry rate. A higher retry rate shows learners are coming back to improve their score.
Participation Funnel
The Participation Funnel shows learner movement through the Session in four metrics:
Assigned — Total learners you assigned to this Session
Started — How many have opened it (% of Assigned)
Completed — How many finished with a score (% of Started)
Repeated — How many retook after passing (% of Completed)
Participation Funnel
What to look for:
Many learners assigned but few started. This points to an awareness gap. Resend the announcement or explain why the Session matters.
Many started but few completed. The Session may be too difficult or not engaging enough. Look for where learners drop off, or ask them for feedback.
Few learners repeated after passing. Most learners are satisfied with their result. Recognize their progress or encourage them to push their score higher.
Completion Rate Projection
The Completion Rate Projection plots actual completion against a projected trend line with your target threshold.
Completion rate
What to look for:
On track to hit the target. Your team is set to finish by the deadline, so no action is needed.
Trending to miss the target. Step in now with reminders or support to close the gap.
Session Starts
Session Starts is a line chart showing when learners are engaging.
Session starts
What to look for:
A spike after a reminder. Your reminders are prompting learners to start.
A quiet stretch. Engagement has slowed, so it's a good time to re-engage learners.
A steady, gradual rise. Learners are engaging on their own without prompting.
A sudden drop. Learners may have hit a deadline or run into a barrier. Check what changed.
Engagement Depth
Engagement depth shows the share of assigned learners who completed the training at least a given number of times, from 1 Attempt through 5+ Attempts. Because each row counts learners who reached at least that many completions, the share decreases as the attempt count rises.
What to look for:
A high share at 2 or more attempts. Learners are coming back to practice rather than stopping after one completion.
A steep drop between attempt levels. Most learners stop after one or two completions. If you want more practice, encourage learners to repeat the Session.
A meaningful share at 5+ attempts. These learners are putting in real practice, which is worth recognizing.
Learner Status Table
The Learner Status Table gives a detailed view of each learner:
Not started — Haven't opened yet
In progress — Opened but incomplete
Completed — Finished with a score
Passed — Met passing threshold
Didn't pass — Below threshold

Results Tab: Analyzing Performance
💡 Creators can also access the Results view in the Synthesia editor under Analytics → Results.
The Results tab shows how learners are performing once they've completed their Sessions: their scores, how much they've improved, and which skills are developing. Use it to see whether practice is paying off, spot learners who need coaching, and find skills that aren't improving across the group. This is the view to check when you want to know whether your team is getting better, not just showing up.
To use it, read the Headline Metrics for the top-line result, then use the Skills Panel to find skills that aren't improving and the Best Score Distribution to find learners just below passing. Select a quartile or a learner to drill into individual transcripts for coaching.
Results Tab
Results Headline Metrics
The headline metrics are four summary cards showing overall performance:
Learners — Total who completed an attempt
Median best score — Typical performance level
Pass rate — Percentage who passed
Avg change — Average improvement from first to best attempt
Results Headline Metrics
💡Avg change is your ROI signal — it shows learning impact. An avg change of +20 means learners improved 20% through practice.
Median Score by Attempt
Median Score by Attempt is a line chart with a shaded band showing the P25–P75 spread.
Median Score by Attempt
What to look for:
Where the line crosses the passing threshold. This shows how many attempts it takes a typical learner to pass.
The direction of the line. An upward trend shows learners are improving with practice.
The width of the shaded band. A narrowing band shows learners are converging as they improve.
Skills Panel
The Skills Panel ranks each skill by improvement, measured as uplift from first to best attempt.
Skills Panel
What to look for:
Green skills. These are improving, which shows your training approach is working.
Red skills. These are not improving. Refresh the content, add a workshop, or provide more practice.
Best Score Distribution
The Best Score Distribution is a histogram showing how learners cluster.
Best Score Distribution
What to look for:
Learners just below passing. They are close to the threshold, so target them for coaching first.
A wide spread. Performance varies a lot across the team. Consider peer learning or differentiated coaching.
Learners clustered at the top. The Session may be too easy for the group.
Select any quartile to filter learners. You can see exactly which learners are in the "just below passing" band and drill into their transcripts for coaching insights.
Results Breakdown
The results breakdown lets you see individual performance data and compare results across different groups. You can review how each learner is performing, how many times they have practiced, and whether they are improving, or group the results by team, country, department, or job level to see how whole groups compare. This helps you spot who needs coaching and where to focus it.
Set Group by to All learners to list each learner on their own row.
Group by filter
Each row shows the learner's name and email, alongside three sortable columns:
Attempts — How many attempts the learner has made.
Best score — The learner's highest score, marked to show whether it met the passing threshold.
Score change — How much the learner improved from their first attempt to their best, shown as a positive change, no change, or a dash when there's only one attempt.
Learner Results Breakdown
To find specific learners, you can:
Use the All statuses filter to show all learners, or only those who are Incomplete or Complete.
Search by name in the search box.
💡 Select any column heading to sort by it.
Group by also lets you compare performance across groups. Choose Team, Country, Department, or Job level, and the table switches from individual learners to a row for each group, with these columns:
Median score — the median best score across the group
Score distribution — the spread of scores within the group
Avg attempts — the average number of attempts per learner
Pass rate — the share of learners who met the passing threshold
Avg score change — the average improvement from first attempt to best
Group comparison view
What to look for:
Learners whose best score is below passing. These are your first coaching priority. Sort by Best score to bring them together.
Learners with several attempts but little score change. Repeated practice isn't moving their score, so they may need direct coaching rather than another retry.
Learners with a single attempt and a low score. They haven't practiced yet. A nudge to retry may be all they need.
Groups with a low pass rate or a low average score change. Compare teams or departments to see where to focus coaching.
To dig into one learner, set Group by to All learners and select their name. Their detail page shows their progress over time, every attempt they've made, and detailed feedback for each attempt across Summary, Skills, and Delivery. To learn how to read that feedback, see How do I read roleplay feedback?
