To use Synthetix on Ethereum Mainnet, you will need a small amount of ETH in your wallet to pay for gas fees.
What are Gas Fees?
Gas is the cost of using the Ethereum Network.
Gas fee can fluctuate depending on activity on the network. The more busy the higher the fee.
Signing into Synthetix does not require gas fees but trading, staking or entering a liquidity pool will require a small fee in ETH.
Fees go to Ethereum Validators, not to Synthetix.
How much ETH do I need?
Gas fees change depending on network activity. If the network is congested the gas fee will be higher however it will go down once it clears.
For most actions on Synthetix, a few dollars worth of ETH is enough to get you started.
Different type of actions on Synthetix maybe have a different gas fee.
How to get ETH?
Buy ETH on centralised exchange (e.g. Coinbase, Binance, Kraken)
Withdraw it directly to your EVM Wallet.
Make sure you it's on Ethereum Mainnet.
π‘ Tip: It will be handy to keep a little extra ETH in your wallet at all times as it is needed to perform transactions or even claiming rewards.
