Transaction stuck pending

Updated over a week ago

If your transaction is taking too long or appears "stuck" in your wallet, it usually means the gas settings were too low, or the Ethereum network is congested.

Common Causes

  • Gas price set too low.

  • Network congestion (many transactions competing to be mined).

  • Previous pending transactions blocking new ones.

Steps to Fix

  1. Check your wallet activity

    • Open your wallet (e.g. Metamask) and see if the transaction is pending.

    • Copy the transaction hash and check it on Etherscan.

  2. Wait a little longer

    • Sometimes it just takes more time if the network is busy.

  3. Speed up the transaction

    • Many wallets let you click "Speed Up" to resubmit with a higher gas fee.

  4. Cancel the transaction

    • If supported by your wallet, click "Cancel".

    • You may need to send a replacement transaction with higher gas to overwrite it.

  5. Resubmit with recommended gas fees

    • Use your wallet’s suggested gas settings to avoid underpricing.

Still Not Working?

If your transaction is still stuck after trying the above:

  • Restart your wallet and browser.

  • Try sending a small new transaction with higher gas to “unstick” the queue.
