Sysco Credit Application Frequently Asked Questions

Q1. How do I access my credit application?
A. You will receive an email from sysconoreply@sbs.sysco.com containing a link to your credit application. Simply click the link to begin. This email will also include a list of documentation you may need to complete your application.

Q2. Can I complete this application on my phone or do I need to use a computer? A. This application needs to be completed on the Chrome internet browser on your computer. The Sysco Credit Application is not mobile ready. While other browsers might work partially, Chrome offers the best experience. Additionally, it is recommended to use the latest version of Chrome to avoid potential technical issues.

Q3. Do I need to complete my application at one time or can I come back to it later?
A. The application should take about 15 minutes to complete. However, you can exit your application at any time by clicking Save and Continue Later at the bottom left of your application. You will then receive an email containing a username and password allowing you to log in again and complete your application at your convenience.

Q4. My name is misspelled on the application. What should I do?
A. Any pre-populated information can be modified and updated. Simply click in the field and change the text.

Q5. Can I edit my information after my application is submitted?
A. No, but the last step in the credit application allows you to view all of your answers on one screen to ensure the information provided is accurate prior to submission. You can make edits prior to submitting the application if you see an error.

Q6. If I select ‘yes’ to receive an e-statement, can I change the email address?
A. When you select the yes checkbox to consent to e-statements, you will see a new field with your email address already pre-populated. You can change this field before submitting the credit application. Once you submit your application, you will not be able to change that email address.

Q7. How do I become exempt from sales tax?
A. If you are tax-exempt, you will complete the appropriate tax exemption form during your credit application. You will be asked a series of questions to ensure the appropriate tax resale certificate is provided. Each state has a different process, so if you have any questions regarding your exemption status, you will need to visit your state’s tax website.

Q8. Can I add my tax exemption information at a later date?
A. Yes, but your orders will be fully taxable until you add your exemption certificate. You will need to work with your marketing associate, and they can submit your exemption certificate on your behalf. If you have questions about tax-related issues, email SBSIndirectTax@sbs.sysco.com.

Q9. What type of trade references are valid?
A. Any business within the food industry with which you have done business can be a reference.

Q10. I do not have any references. Will this affect my credit terms?
A. References can help evaluate your credit terms but are not required.

Q11. When will my credit report be pulled?

A. Once you complete the personal guarantor step of the application, a credit check will be automatically run, even if the application has not yet been submitted. To protect your personal information, your social security number is not stored within the application. This means that if you come back to this step, or need to exit the application and return at a later time, some fields on this page may show as blank. You do not need to re-enter any information on this page to submit the credit application.

Q12. What is an additional guarantor?
A. A guarantor acts as a co-signer and will pay any debts owed for goods and services on your behalf if you are unable to do so.

Q13. How will I know my credit application has been approved and what my credit terms are?
A. You will receive your credit terms via email within approximately 24 hours of submitting your application. Your sales representative will also receive your credit terms.

Q14. What is the expected timeline from when the credit application is submitted to I will be set up in Sysco Shop?

A. Once the credit application is submitted, it normally takes 72-96 hours for you to be able to order on Sysco Shop. If needed, you can order with Customer Care once your account is active, typically 48 hours after the credit app is submitted. For Prospect Shop customers, you can order by credit card, but will have terms typically 24 hours after the credit application is submitted.
