Tablo is designed to keep you focused. Once your thoughts are written down, you can use headings and dividers to help organise and plan your writing.

Headings & sub-headings

Create headings and sub-headings to give your writing structure, and help your readers find what they want to read. You can add headings to your writing in a few ways:

  • Click the + in the left margin that appears while you are writing, and select the size heading you want.

  • Highlight some text to make the select toolbar appear. Choose the size heading you want.

  • # followed by space to create an H1 heading.

  • ## followed by space to create an H2 sub-heading.

Dividers

At times in your writing you may want to add a space, but not a new heading or chapter. Dividers are symbols with automatic line spacing before and after. Use them to mark transitions in your writing, like scene changes or time shifts.

  • To add a divider, click the + in the left margin that appears while you are writing, and select Horizontal line.

Quotes

Perhaps you want to mark the beginning of each chapter with a phrase, quote or verse. Or call out a particular chunk of text for special attention. A quote is your tool for this.

  • To create a quote, highlight some text to make the select toolbar appear, and select Block quote.

Heading & divider questions

Can I create custom dividers?

There isn’t a way to change the symbol. It’s decided by the theme. You might switch themes, to see if you prefer the symbol within a different theme.

How do I remove the quotation marks that appear above my quote?

There isn't a way to do this. The quotation mark is part of the block quote style. You could remove the style, and format the quote manually, in italics.
