Your royalty is the amount you earn each time you sell a copy of your book.

The first way your book sells is an order from a bookstore. When you publish with Tablo, you let us supply your book for you. We manage sales to bookstores, and bookstores in turn manage sales to their customers.

This is called wholesaling — the act of selling goods at a discount to a retailer who sells the goods to its customers at a higher price. More on prices here →

Any easy way to understand what revenue you could earn from sales is to know your book’s minimum prices. The minimum price is determined by the print cost of your book. Your list price must be above the minimum to earn revenue from book sales.

Below are minimum prices for two common types of books, in different lenghts.

5x8, 5.5x8.5 and 6x9 trim sizes. Printing is black-and-white, on cream paper.

7x10, 8x8, 8x10 and 8.5x11 trim sizes. Printing is rich premium color, on white paper.

The entire setup takes only a few minutes. You'll be asked for just four things — first and last name, address, phone number, and email address.

You can earn more from each sale by raising your price or re-formatting your book so it is cheaper to print. To investigate these options, send us a message or email us.

A negative amount means your book was returned. Customers rarely return books. It's likely a bookstore has returned unsold copies.

Returns are normal in book selling. Stores from Amazon down to small independent bookshops expect to be able to return unsold copies. When a book is returned the store can receive a refund of what they spent to order it.
