There is a good personality and working-style fit between tutor and student.
Goals, expectations, and logistics are clear before paid lessons begin.
1. Technology Check & Introduction (5 minutes)
Technology Check:
Confirm both parties can connect via LessonSpace.
Test microphone, camera, and key tools (whiteboard, file sharing, screen share).

Introduction:
Introduce yourself (background, experience, teaching style).
Confirm the subject, level, and exam board.
Explain the purpose and structure of this introductory session (not a lesson).
Clarify that all communication goes through the agency.
2. Understanding the Student’s Needs (5–7 minutes)
Assess Current Progress:
Current grades and target grades.
Main challenges or areas holding them back.
Priority topics or skills for tuition.
Goal Setting:
Target grade(s).
Any upcoming assessments or exams.
Parental Input (if applicable):
Invite parents to share expectations or concerns.
3. Demonstration Teaching (5–7 minutes)
Briefly explain how you would approach a challenging topic.
Walk through a short example or key concept.
Encourage the student to ask questions.
4. Agreeing on the Support Plan (5–7 minutes)
Frequency & Duration: Suggested session length (60/90 mins) and weekly schedule.
Homework Policy: Ask if the student /parent wants homework set each week. Make clear that homework marking is completed during paid lesson time.
Parental Check-ins: Option for parents to join the last 10–15 minutes of a session once a month to review progress.
Session Structure: e.g., content review → exam practice → feedback.
5. Scheduling the First Full Session (3–5 minutes)
Aim to confirm the first paid session before ending the call.
If booking within the same Tutor Booking, your standard hourly rate will be applied automatically.
If no date is confirmed, let the client know they can book via the booking system within TutorCruncher or they can email Rich to organise.
6. Closing & Next Steps (2 minutes)
Summarise agreed goals, expectations, and next steps.
Reassure the student you can help them reach their targets.
Remind them all communication and bookings go through the agency.
Email Rich to give him a quick summary of how the session went and what outcomes were decided.
