How To Use Your Progress Tracker

How the traffic-light Progress Tracker works, where to see your progress, and how to use it to target your revision.

Written by JJ

The Progress Tracker is the traffic-light system that runs through the whole course. It tells you, at a glance, what you know and what still needs work, so your revision goes where it is needed instead of where it feels comfortable.

How it works

At the bottom of every lesson you will see "How do you feel about this lesson?" with three options:

Green: Confident. You did the quiz and got most of it right without looking.

Amber: Okay. You got there, but with gaps or hesitation.

Red: Needs work. You dropped marks, or you could not do it without the video.

Click one. It saves automatically to your account, and you can change it any time you revisit the lesson.

Past papers have the same lights: one for each question, and one for the paper as a whole.

Where to see your progress

Your subject Home page (Biology Home or Chemistry Home) shows a summary of your Progress Tracker across the course, so you can see your red and amber topics together and plan your next week around them.

Maths Solo: lights are set lesson by lesson and question by question in the same way, but there is no course-wide summary page yet.

How to use it well

Set it after the quiz, not after the video. The video always feels clearer than it is. The quiz is the honest signal.

Be strict. An amber you should have marked red costs you marks in the exam. Nobody else sees your lights.

Revisit your reds. Your Personal Study Plan and the TT Revision Method both work from your weakest areas. Red lights are where the grade improvement is.

Update as you improve. Watching a red turn amber and then green is the point. Re-do the quiz a week later and re-set the light.
