Tailwind: Exporting your Data

Whether you’re using Tailwind to manage a brokerage or a trucking company, the data you enter into the system is a crucial asset for your business. Customer information, Vendor records, Dispatches and Invoice history – all the information you have kept up to date to keep Tailwind running smoothly and all the records that Tailwind has generated on your behalf. And sometimes, you need to be able to retrieve that data, to use outside the confines of our software – for whatever reason.

To facilitate this, we provide the ability to export most of your data. For security reasons, only the Admin user will have access to export the data. Data can be exported by navigating to Gear Icon on the top right of your Tailwind screen, Configuration, Data Export. This will take you to the page where you can click on the data types you would like to export. The data will be provided to you in a .csv file, which can easily be imported into Excel or other programs.

The structure of the data and our export process places some limits on the types of data that can be exported. Here is a list of the specific data records that can be exported:

  • Customers

  • Vendors

  • Locations

  • Personnel

  • Equipment

  • Quotes

  • Dispatches

  • Invoices (revenue total only, no line items)

  • Invoice Payments (totals only)

  • Bills (expense totals only, no line items)

  • Bill Payments (totals only)

These are the most common types of data we expect you may want to export. However, if there are other records or data you would like to export, please let our support department know; if it is possible to export the data, they will be happy to do so.
