How to Navigate the Health Insurance Enrollment Process Through Take Command

Take Command simplifies the process of selecting and managing health insurance plans for both employees and employers. This guide provides an overview of the enrollment process, tools, and common scenarios to help you make the most of the platform.

Overview of the Enrollment Process

Employees can enroll in health insurance through their employer’s program on Take Command by following these steps:

  1. Log in to the Employee Portal: Use the link provided in your welcome email to access the portal. If you haven’t received a welcome email, contact your employer’s administrator to ensure you are added to the company roster. Once added, you’ll receive onboarding instructions. Employees should use their email address as their username. If you haven’t set up a password or forgot it, use the “Forgot Password” option to reset it.

  2. Compare Plans: Use the portal’s tools to filter plans based on your medical needs, budget, preferred doctors, and prescriptions. Take Command provides personalized recommendations to help you find ACA-eligible marketplace plans that minimize costs. During this step, employees should also complete onboarding by setting up their profile and adding dependents if applicable.

  3. Complete Enrollment: Once you select a plan, the portal will direct you to the appropriate external site (e.g., insurance carrier or state marketplace) to finalize your application. Follow the instructions provided to complete the process.

Tools and Features for Plan Selection

  • Enrollment Team Assistance: Employers can guide employees by scheduling a session with Take Command’s Enrollment Team, who will assist in comparing options and selecting a plan. Employers can also use the Admin Portal to filter and export enrollment data by plan year and status, helping track employees who have not started or are still shopping for plans.

  • Filters and Recommendations: Use filters to search for in-network doctors, covered medications, and other preferences. The platform provides side-by-side comparisons for easy decision-making.

Common Scenarios and Solutions

Not Started Enrollment Status

If your enrollment status shows as “Not Started,” it means you have not logged in or completed onboarding steps, including submitting proof of coverage. Submit the required documentation to participate in the HRA and become eligible for reimbursements.

Medicare-Eligible Employees

If you are eligible for Medicare, Take Command partners with Chapter to provide one-on-one guidance. Chapter assists with comparing and enrolling in Medicare Parts A, B, C, and D, selecting supplemental coverage, and ensuring compatibility with your company’s HRA.

Missing Welcome Email

If you’re a new employee and haven’t received a welcome email, your employer must add you to the company roster. Once added, you’ll receive onboarding instructions to complete your enrollment. Additionally, check your spam or junk folder if the welcome email is not in your inbox.

Loss of Coverage

If you lose coverage, you can shop for a new plan through the Take Command dashboard:

  • Click “Explore Qualifying Life Events” and select “Loss of coverage.”

  • Upload a screenshot of your dashboard as requested.

  • Shop for a new plan and schedule your current plan to terminate at the end of the month to avoid overlapping coverage.

Company Reactivation

Once your company is reactivated, employees can use their welcome email to sign in, onboard, and shop for a plan.

Reimbursement and Proof of Coverage

To receive reimbursements for eligible premiums:

  • Upload proof of coverage to your Take Command portal. This is required even if you’ve enrolled in a plan outside of Take Command, such as a Marketplace dental plan. Ensure the document includes the plan name, premium amount, effective date, and covered individuals.

  • Confirm your plan and premium details in your Take Command account and compare them against the carrier’s invoice to ensure accuracy.

FAQs

Can I adjust my ICHRA allowance?

Only your employer or benefits administrator can adjust the ICHRA monthly allowance. Contact them to make changes before selecting your plan.

Why can’t I select Marketplace dental insurance?

Marketplace dental plans cannot be selected through Take Command’s enrollment flow. However, you can upload proof of coverage for reimbursement if you enroll through the Marketplace or another third-party carrier. By following these steps and utilizing Take Command’s tools, employees and employers can efficiently navigate the health insurance enrollment process.
