You can cancel your QSEHRA subscription at any time by logging into your Take Command admin portal and selecting Plan & Billing > Cancel Plan, and your plan will remain active until the end of the cancellation month you choose.
How do I cancel my QSEHRA subscription?
You can cancel your QSEHRA directly in your admin portal.
Follow these steps:
Log in to your Take Command admin portal
Go to Settings
Select Plan & Billing
Click Cancel Plan
Choose your cancellation date (recommended: last day of the month)
Submit the cancellation request
Your subscription will remain active until the selected end date.
When does my QSEHRA cancellation take effect?
Your cancellation takes effect at the end of the month you select.
You continue to have access through your selected end date
Billing stops after the plan end date
There is no required notice period
Example:
If you select June 30 as your cancellation date, your QSEHRA remains active through June 30 and ends July 1.
Can I pause my QSEHRA instead of canceling it?
No. QSEHRA plans cannot be paused.
If you need to stop benefits temporarily, your only option is to:
Cancel the plan, and
Reactivate it later if needed
What happens to employees when I cancel my QSEHRA?
When your QSEHRA is canceled:
Employees can no longer receive reimbursements after the plan end date
Employees may still submit eligible claims incurred before the cancellation date (within the standard submission window)
Employees’ individual insurance coverage is not automatically canceled
Employees must manage their insurance directly with their carrier if they want to make changes
Do employees still get reimbursed after cancellation?
Employees can still submit reimbursement claims for eligible expenses that were incurred before the cancellation effective date.
However:
No new expenses incurred after the cancellation date are eligible
All claims must follow standard documentation requirements
Claims must be submitted within the allowable submission timeframe
What reports should I download before canceling?
Before canceling your QSEHRA, you should download:
Reimbursement reports
Payroll or allowance summaries
Employee eligibility and participation records
These reports ensure you retain access to historical plan data after cancellation.
Will I still receive tax documents after canceling?
Yes. Even after cancellation:
Required tax documents will still be generated and provided
Year-end reporting will still be available
Compliance documentation is still issued based on plan activity during the year
What if I want my plan to end at the end of the year?
If you want your QSEHRA to end at the conclusion of a plan year:
Select the last day of the year as your cancellation date in Plan & Billing
This ensures no automatic continuation into the next plan year
No additional non-renewal form is required for standard monthly cancellation
To cancel your subscription, follow these steps:
Admin Login: Log in as the organization’s account administrator to the Take Command portal.
Navigate to the Plan & Billing Tab: Locate the cancellation option under the 'Plan & Billing' section in your admin portal settings.
Set the Cancellation Date: Choose the exact cancellation date, with the recommendation of setting it for the last day of a month to align with billing cycles.
Provide Feedback: Optionally, add any cancellation comments or feedback during this process.
Confirmation: Submit your request and await a confirmation email, which may include materials like templates for notifying employees if needed. The confirmation email is typically sent on the same day you submit your cancellation request or by the next business day. Additionally, it may include important documents such as a payroll report, if relevant, or templates for notifying employees about the changes.
Submitting a Non-Renewal Request
If you want your subscription to end at the conclusion of your current term, such as by December 31, 2026, you must complete a non-renewal form. This ensures that your subscription will not carry over into the next plan year.
Filling Out the Form: The designated non-renewal form is the required method to submit your request. Once the form has been submitted, your subscription is set to end on the specified date, such as the end of your term. No further action will be required.
Preventing Automatic Renewal: If you do not see an option to cancel your plan through other means, submitting this form is the primary step to ensure non-renewal. Once completed, your plan will terminate at the end-of-term date, preventing it from renewing into the next year.
Clarification on Renewal Emails
A common misunderstanding arises from renewal emails. It’s important to note that these emails are reminders of regular monthly billing for your Take Command platform and do not signify automatic renewals for the next plan year.
Additionally, employers should directly communicate any service termination details with their employees, as Take Command does not manage this notification. Employee insurance plans are not automatically canceled when you cancel your HRA subscription. Employees can continue their coverage by paying the carrier directly or cancel their plans by contacting the carrier.
Important Notes:
Employees can submit claims for eligible expenses incurred before the service termination date within a 90-day window. This ensures adequate time for reimbursements and avoids missing deadlines.
Flexibility to cancel plans anytime without prior notice
Detailed instructions available for non-renewal to ensure complete control over plan transitions.
Employees can also submit claims for eligible expenses incurred before the service termination date within a 90-day window, ensuring adequate time for reimbursements.
If your employees have active coverage, their insurance plans will continue unaffected after a QSEHRA cancellation. Employees may keep their plan by paying premiums directly to the insurance carrier or cancel the coverage by reaching out to the insurer directly.
Furthermore, end-of-year tax documentation will be provided to employers, ensuring compliance and support for reporting needs. This documentation will be sent even if your cancellation is finalized before end of year, ensuring you have all necessary materials for year-end reporting.
The Take Command subscription will cancel the last day of the month you chose, and you will have access until then. Please be sure to download any reports before the cancellation is complete.
Additionally, ensure that any pending reimbursements are submitted before selecting the cancellation date to avoid missing deadlines.
We will still send any necessary end of year documentation for tax reporting purposes
