Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) are used by many companies to screen and filter job applicants. To ensure your CV passes the ATS and reaches the right hands, follow these tips and make sure to download the Highered ATS Friendly CV Template in your School's Highered platform:

  1. Use keywords: Use keywords from the job description to show that you understand the requirements of the role. This can include specific skills, qualifications, and industry terms.

  2. Avoid graphics and tables: Some ATS systems cannot read graphics and tables, so stick to text-based formats such as Microsoft Word or plain text.

  3. Use clear headings: Use clear and descriptive headings to help the ATS understand the structure of your CV. This can include "Education," "Work Experience," and "Skills."

  4. Keep it simple: Avoid using fancy formatting, such as text boxes or columns, as these can confuse the ATS and make it difficult to extract the information it needs.

  5. Include your contact information: Make sure your CV includes your full name, email address, and phone number in a clear and easy-to-find location.

  6. Proofread: Carefully review your CV for errors and typos. Typos and spelling errors can confuse the ATS and reduce the chances of your CV being selected for further review.

By following these tips, you'll increase the chances of your CV passing the ATS and reaching a human hiring manager for further consideration. Remember, the goal of the ATS is to help the hiring manager find the most qualified candidates, so make sure your CV accurately represents your skills and qualifications.
