The Highered 5 is a 5-step career development process. It’s your roadmap for your career. Career development is a continuous process. Where are you currently on your journey? Refine your career path by following this step-by-step process until you land the job you want!

    The first step in your career development process is to explore - to get to know yourself! Here you’ll build awareness about your work personality traits, skills, and interests.

    Your goal is to discover the skills you need to enhance or develop, identify or re-assess your goals and develop a plan to support your career journey.

  2. Step 2: Develop

    You know the career path you want to pursue. But how do you go about gaining the career-relevant skills you’ll need to get there? In step 2, you will focus on investing in yourself and acquiring the right skills and knowledge to advance in your journey toward your career development.

    Your goal is to bridge the skills gap, develop new skills and gain knowledge relevant to your career.

  3. Step 3: Retool

    In today’s competitive job market, making a lasting impression is crucial. That’s why your personal brand matters. Your CV, cover letter, and all other aspects of your brand should align to help you tell your story. In step 3 of the Highered 5, you will get access to valuable tools and templates so you can create the right personal brand to boost your career!

    Your goal is to create tailored career tools (CV, cover letter, pitch, LinkedIn profile) for your preferred job role and to learn to communicate your strengths and points of differences to employers.

    You’ve come to the end of the process, now it's time to reap the rewards of all your hard work. The final step in your career journey is to accept the job offer. But before that, make sure to use all of the resources to prepare for your interview, the follow-up, and learn tips to negotiate your salary.
