Customizable fields are one of our most useful, but least known options! Using customizable fields allows you to send the same message to your entire class at once, but allows it to be personalized for each family and student.

Now I know you may be wondering what customizable fields are. If you've ever taken a look at your message templates and seen words or phrases in brackets, then you've seen a customizable field!*

*Very important note: For the customizable fields to work, the text needs to be typed in exactly as it appears below. We recommend copying and pasting if possible!

In the photo above, typing '[studentFirstName]' in a message, means that for each family who receives a message, their child's first name will be filled in by TalkingPoints automatically. This will save you from having to type the same message to each individual family, but will still help them feel like you're reaching out to them directly.

Here is a complete list of the customizable fields you can type into a TalkingPoints message*:

[teacherName] - fills in your full name

[teacherFirstName] - fills in your first name

[teacherLastName] - fills in your last name

[teacherSignature] - fills in your TalkingPoints signature (i.e. Ms. Johnson)

[school] - fills in your school's name
[studentFirstName] - fills in a student's first name
[parentFullName] - fills in a family contact's full name
[parentLanguage] - fills in a family contact's language name

*Very important note: For the customizable fields to work, the text needs to be typed exactly as it appears above. We recommend copying and pasting if possible!
