The Classes & Groups option on the left navigation menu of your account lets you view, create, and/or edit your rosters. Read below for what these mean and how to use them!

Classes vs. Groups

  • Classes: These are student rosters that you are assigned to from your student information system (SIS). These are typically classes from your student information system, and you will see your school name here.

  • School Groups or Groups Created by Admin: These are groups of students outside of class rosters that your school admin has built for you and given you access to. These are typically groups of students you work with, but who aren't on an official roster for which you're the teacher of record.

  • Your Groups: Formerly known as "manually added classes", these are groups of students you've built for yourself!

Legacy Label

You might notice a gold label next to some of your groups that says Legacy. This label means you created this group in your free account before your school partnered with TalkingPoints. New students aren't able to be added to a Legacy Group, however If you still need access to your Legacy Group, we recommend you create a new Group or rebuild the Legacy Group so it's fully integrated into your school account. If you no longer need access to a Legacy Group, you can archive it or delete it.

How to Create and Edit Groups

Step 1: Click 'Classes & Groups' from the left navigation panel.

Step 2: Click 'Add Group' in the upper right corner.

Step 3: Name your Group and select 'Create'.

Step 4: Select 'Add Students'.

Step 5: Choose how you would like to add your students. (Note: You may have additional options for how to add students depending on your school's settings.)

Step 6: Select your students and click 'Add'.

Note: You are not able to edit Classes or School Groups, as those are predetermined either by your SIS or admin.
