Questions that teachers may have about their TalkingPoints Accounts:

Please note: There are two acronyms used throughout this document that you may be unfamiliar with: SSO is Single Sign On, and SIS is Student Information System.

Q: How do I log in?

TalkingPoints allows you to sign in different ways using either our web app or our mobile app. The first way you login might be dependent upon the type of account your school or district has created (Clever, ClassLink, or .csv-rostered), so see below for more details.

Clever Accounts

If your school or district created their account using Clever, you will first need to sign in through Clever and then create a password for TalkingPoints. Please see this article for more details.

ClassLink Accounts

If your school or district created their account using ClassLink, you can sign in through their SSO.

.csv-rostered Accounts

If your school or district created their account using a .csv file, you will need to use the invite sent to your email address from your admin and sign in directly to TalkingPoints or with Google SSO.

After your first sign in, you can sign in on the web at www.talkingpts.org and click on the ‘LOGIN' button or download our mobile app for teachers available on iOS and Android.

Q: My classes are incorrect, or missing. What do I do?

Clever/ClassLink Accounts

Please make sure that you are rostered to the correct classes in Clever or ClassLink. If they are incorrect or missing, please reach out to your admin to make the adjustments in your SIS and wait for the nightly sync to refresh the data present in TalkingPoints.

.csv-rostered Accounts

Please reach out to your admin so they can make the proper adjustments in the SIS and do another upload by using our self-serve .csv uploader.

Questions that families may have and how to address them:

Q: Do I need a class code?

Clever/ClassLink Accounts

For families that are part of a Clever or ClassLink, a class code is not available. If they are being prompted to enter a class code, please make sure that their contact information is correct in the SIS, and showing properly in Clever or ClassLink. If their information is incorrect or missing, please reach out to your admin to make the necessary adjustments in your SIS and wait for the nightly sync to refresh the data present in TalkingPoints.

.csv-rostered Accounts

For families that are part of a .csv rostered account, a class code is not available. Check the student details in TalkingPoints to see if the family reaching out to you is listed as a contact for the student. If they are not, please reach out to your admin to make the necessary adjustments in the SIS, and do another upload by using our self-serve .csv uploader.

Q: My contact information is incorrect. What do I do?

Clever/ClassLink Accounts

Please have the family send the correct contact information to their teacher. If the teacher is unable to update it in the SIS, please reach out to your admin to make the necessary adjustments in the SIS. The contact information will be updated in TalkingPoints when the nightly Clever or ClassLink sync goes through.

.csv-rostered Accounts

Please have the family send the correct contact information to a teacher and have them update the information in the SIS. Inform your admin that another upload needs to be completed by using the self-serve .csv uploader to refresh the data present in TalkingPoints.

Q: One of my children is not showing up in the TalkingPoints for Families app. How do I add them?

Clever/ClassLink Accounts

Please make sure that the person is listed as a contact for the student, with the correct mobile phone number in Clever or ClassLink. If it is not correct, please have your admin make the adjustments in your SIS and wait for the nightly sync to refresh the data present in TalkingPoints.

.csv-rostered Accounts

Please check the student details in TalkingPoints to see if the family member is listed as a contact for the student, with the correct mobile phone number. If it is not correct, please reach out to your admin to make the necessary adjustments in the SIS, and do another upload by using our self-serve .csv uploader.
