Managing Event Tags in Tandem
Similar to hashtags on social media, Tags let you organize and filter events across your Tandem calendar. Tags can represent activity types, event types, departments, or any other category you define in your account.
Common examples include: Game, Practice, Meeting, Athletic Department, Chess, Rental.
Each Tandem account comes with several default tags, and you can add or edit tags to match the specific needs of your organization.
Why Adding Tags is Important
Tags are powerful tools for searching, filtering, and creating custom reports or pages. For example, you might create a filtered calendar showing only Home Games by applying that tag.
Unlike facilities, groups, equipment, or people, Tandem does not run conflict checks against tags. Instead, tags provide flexible ways to categorize and view events.
You can also set tags to be automatically assigned to events that involve certain groups, facilities, or equipment. For example, all events involving the basketball team could automatically carry a Basketball tag.
Types of Tags
In Tandem, you can create different types of tags to suit your organization’s needs:
Departments – Divide your organization into meaningful units (e.g., Administration, Athletics, Music).
Activities – Represent what people do (e.g., Soccer, Baseball, Band, Drama).
Event Types – Categorize events by type (e.g., Game, Meeting, Concert, Practice).
Departments and Event Types can also be used to color-code events on the calendar view. (This must be toggled on in My Organization > Calendar Customization > Logo, Color & Settings.)
How to Start Adding Tags
Go to My Organization > Types & Tags.
Select the category of tag you would like to add.
Click the Add button at the top of the page and enter your tag name. (if you have enabled event coloring on a tag type you may also define a color)
Once defined, your tags will be available to select when adding single events or event lists.
