You just downloaded TANGENT Golf and you're ready to play your best golf, but before you take your first swing... Hopefully you went through onboarding and told TANGENT what clubs you have and starting distances. This article will tell you how to manage your bag to make any changes.
Periodically you will get alerts telling you that caddie has suggested bag updates.
Keeping your club data up to date in TANGENT Golf will improve caddie functionality and the automatic club selection. Let's dive in.
To access your club info, from the home screen, hit the club on the top right.
You'll see a list of your bags and clubs that are currently set up in the app.
Tapping any club will allow you to edit that club and address any alerts from the AI Caddie.
However, the best place to start is to look at your club gapping. It gives you a quick visual of how your current bag is set up and how it compares to your actual data.
You can tap on the club labels on either side of the gapping visualization or return to the clubs screen to select a club to edit.
Editing a club
Active (in bag) determines whether this club will show up when playing or will be hidden. Set a club as inactive if you do not plan to use it, for instance... you're not taking your hybrid with you for a particular course.
You'll see fields for which bags the club belongs to. A club can be in multiple bags.
Club type -> Clubs are divided by types into broad categories:
Drivers
Woods
Hybrids
Irons
Wedges
Putters
Sorry chippers... we're calling you a wedge.
Club Name -> This is what the club will be called in all our selection menus when playing. It is an abbreviation for the club.
Brand / Model -> Here you can set up the manufacturer and model of your clubs if you desire. This is valuable if you ever get new clubs and want to do a club to club comparison.
For example, if you buy a new putter, you will want the brand and model info so that TANGENT can tell the two putters apart and do a side by side comparison.
Distance, Lateral, and vertical dispersion -> These values set up the caddie info for the club.
If you just came from onboarding, we used your answers to the survey to best set these up with no data. As you play rounds, the caddie will take notes on what you actually do and offer suggestions.
You will see those suggestions as the red or yellow alerts for each data point.
Those alerts are TAPPABLE. Tapping on one will tell you what the caddie wants to change and give you the option to automatically do so.
Keep in mind! The caddie never automatically changes your distances and dispersions, it merely suggests changes YOU should make. This is intentional... You may have specific reasons why you don't want your 4H to be set to 200 yards.. you are in control. Caddie just makes suggestions based on learning and shows you the data in the grid view at the bottom.
β
Lateral dispersion is how much width you need to safely hit the club.
Vertical dispersion is how much depth you need to safely hit a club.
Thats it. Save it.
If you no longer want this club at all or have too many clubs... Delete the club or make it inactive.
Thats it. Your bag is set. Let's play golf.
