Meet Caddie. Your new guide around the golf course in the Tangent Golf app.
He's a little different than other Caddie's in apps you may have used before. Caddie learns how you play and makes recommendations based on all the data available including:
Realtime weather
Elevation / Slope
Your previous golf performances including club distances and dispersions
Golf course topography including penalty areas, bunkers, and hazards
Caddie studies it all and tells you not just what to hit, but where to hit it. Let's dive in to how he helps you in the Tangent Golf app.
The above shows you something similar to what you'll see the first time you fire up a course in the Tangent Golf app. Everything from the basic front / middle / back of the green distances, to points of interest (POI) like bunkers and hazard carries, to detailed suggestions of not just what club to use, but where to aim based on your golf capability.
That's cool... but I don't trust Caddie.
I get it. I was skeptical my first couple rounds to, but he's pretty good. If you need more information to make your decision, a simple tap anywhere on the map will bring up the target view. You can use this to gather more information from Caddie.
Caddie has everything including 'Plays-like' distances on the left that take into account weather and elevation. Caddie will suggest a club to hit the selected target in addition to the Optimal suggestion from the previous screen. Caddie will even show you what you would have left into the green and the club you'd use, 56ยฐ in this case.
Even better... If you want to see where Caddie would hit any club, you can use the scroll wheel just above the hole label to get a target for for any club based on your dispersions.
Not bad... But what about approach shots?
Caddie will give you suggestions into the green to. Interestingly enough, he doesn't always suggest aiming at the middle of the green. He knows where the bunkers and trouble are and might have you favor the back of the green, let's take a look on how he makes decisions.
But wait! You really think you can muscle a 9 iron up there don't you? Let's double check Caddie. Again, you can tap on the screen and move the target around for more information. Let's see what we find.
Oh. Your dispersion is a little wider with the 9 Iron and only covers the front 2/3 of the green. That brings both bunkers into play. You seem to be more consistent with the 8 iron and it makes it easier to clear the front bunkers to get to the back portion of the green. Let's hit the 8 iron.
Caddie knows. He knows your game. He knows the course. He's here to help you play your best.
You almost had me... I don't like to use my phone on the course
Caddie also shows up on your watch. As long as your phone is in range, you'll get the same information from your wrist.
Caddie is tracking every shot you hit. Writing down every distance, every dispersion as you play. When you enter your score, he charts it into shots.
Pretty cool, but wait! There's one more thing. Caddie learns. He'll study the data and make suggested changes to your club data to improve with each round. You'll see the notifications right from your home screen:
