Overview

The Promote a Category feature in BayEngage allows you to showcase products from selected categories based on user interactions. By analyzing recent orders, cart activity, and product visits, this recommendation engine dynamically suggests relevant products to your audience. Additionally, optional filters and fallback settings ensure that recommendations remain highly targeted and always display relevant products, even when no direct matches are found.

This guide will walk you through configuring the "Promote a Category" feature within your email templates, maximizing engagement and conversions with personalized product recommendations.

How Does It Work?

The "Promote a Category" feature is designed to dynamically recommend products from selected categories based on user behavior, ensuring highly relevant and personalized suggestions. Here’s how the process works:

  1. Understanding User Interactions

    • The system tracks key user behaviors such as:

      • Recent Orders – Products that the user has recently purchased.

      • Recent Cart Activity – Products that the user has recently added to the cart.

      • Recent Product Visits – Products that the user has recently viewed.

    • These interactions help the system understand the user’s interests and preferences.

  2. Generating Product Recommendations

    • Once the user interaction is identified, the recommendation engine selects relevant products from the chosen categories.

    • The system finds the most suitable matches by comparing product attributes and customer behavior patterns.

  3. Applying Filters for More Precision (Optional)

    • To refine the recommendations, additional filters can be applied:

      • Category Includes/Excludes – Allows prioritization or exclusion of certain product categories.

      • Price Range – Ensures that recommendations fall within a specified price bracket.

    • Filters help tailor the results to better align with your business goals and user expectations.

  4. Ensuring Product Availability with Fallbacks

    • If no relevant products match the selected criteria, fallback settings ensure an alternative set of recommendations is displayed.

    • The fallback mechanism can pull products from:

      • Recently Added Products – Displays the latest additions to your store.

      • Most Viewed Products – Highlights popular items based on views.

      • Top Selling Products – Features best-selling products to increase conversion chances.

    • Additional fallback customization includes selecting specific categories and defining a price range for recommendations.

Note: After applying fallback filters, if no products are available even in the fallback selection, the email (including test mails) will not be sent to the user.

  5. Delivering Personalized Product Suggestions

    • Once the recommendation engine processes all the above factors, the final list of suggested products is inserted into the email template.

    • This ensures that each user receives product recommendations tailored to their past actions and interests, increasing engagement and purchase likelihood.

By following this structured approach, BayEngage ensures that every email includes relevant product recommendations, enhancing the shopping experience and driving better conversion rates.
