BayEngage enhances the accuracy of your campaign performance reports by filtering out interactions from email security bots. These bots often scan and click links in emails to detect malicious content, which can cause inflated click metrics that don't truly reflect genuine subscriber engagement.
By enabling the “Exclude bot interactions from Clicked Email” setting, you ensure that only genuine user clicks are counted in your reports.
What Are Bot Clicks?
Bot clicks are automated link interactions performed by email security systems, spam filters, or anti-virus scanners. These systems scan email links to detect threats before delivering the message to the recipient.
These automated interactions can:
Skew your campaign metrics (especially click-through rates).
Trigger click-based automations inaccurately.
Make it harder to evaluate the true performance of your emails.
Why Should You Exclude Bot Clicks?
Enabling bot click exclusion helps you:
Track authentic subscriber engagement
Prevent false triggers in click-based automation workflows.
Make data-driven decisions using reliable metrics.
Enhance reporting accuracy across all email campaigns.
How to Enable It
Follow these steps to enable bot click filtering:
Go to the Settings page in your BayEngage account.
Click on Campaign Settings.
Scroll to the section titled Tracking and Reporting Data.
Check the box: “Exclude bot interactions from Clicked Email.”
Click Save to apply the changes.
Things to Keep in Mind
This setting only affects click tracking. It does not impact open rate tracking or other email metrics.
While BayEngage uses sophisticated detection methods, some bots may still bypass filtering. We continually update our detection logic to improve accuracy.
If this option is disabled, your click metrics may include bot activity, leading to inflated results and potentially misinformed decisions.
