Setting Up Your Coupon Rule
Follow these simple steps to create your main coupon rule.
Step 1: Get Started
From the main menu, click on Coupons.
Click the “Generate coupon” button.
Step 2: Fill in the Coupon Details
Here’s where you’ll define how your coupons work.
Coupon Title: Give your set of coupons a name for your own records (e.g., "Holiday 2024 Sale").
Limit: Enter how many unique codes you want to create (up to 200,000).
Prefix (Optional): Add a word to the start of each code to make them easy to recognize (e.g., HS- would create codes like HS-A1B001).
Code Length: Choose how long the random part of the code should be.
Expire: Decide when the coupons expire:
None: They never expire.
After: They expire on a specific date you choose.
Value (The Discount):
Percentage: 10% off
Fixed amount: $5 off
Free Shipping
Where It Applies:
Applies to all products.
Applies to specific products you select.
Applies to specific collections you select.
(Note: The "collections" option is not available for BigCommerce or WooCommerce stores.)
Usage Limits (Optional):
Limit total uses: Set a cap on how many times the discount can be used across all customers.
Limit to one use per customer: Recommended for most campaigns.
Minimum Spend:
You can require customers to spend a certain amount (e.g., "$50") to use the coupon.
Fallback (Backup) Coupon:
Enter an existing, static coupon code here (e.g., "SAVE10").
Why? If all your unique codes run out, this backup code will be sent instead so new customers don't miss out on the offer.
Coupon Auto-Refill:
This feature automatically creates more codes when you're running low. You can set this up after you save your rule.
Generating Your Codes
Step 3: Save and Generate
Save the Rule: The "Save" button in the top right corner will become clickable once you've filled out all the required fields. Click it.
Generate the Codes: After saving, a new button, "Generate Coupons", will appear. Click it to start making your codes.
What Happens Next? The "In Progress" Screen
After you click "Generate Coupons," you’ll be taken to a status page. Don't worry if you don't see all the codes immediately—it can take a little time to generate thousands of them.
Here’s what you’ll see:
An "In Progress" Banner: A yellow banner indicates that we're working on it.
A Progress Bar: Shows you the progress of the process (from 0% to 100%).
A "Check Status" Button: Click this to refresh the page and see the latest progress.
The Coupon List: You will see your codes appear in the table as they are created.
That's it! Once the progress bar hits 100%, all your unique coupon codes will be ready to use in your campaigns and automations.
Using the bulk coupon feature saves you time and helps you run better promotions. Now you can easily provide unique discounts to every customer, ensuring your campaigns are both professional and successful.
