Want to reuse a successful marketing workflow without building it from scratch? The "Clone Automation" feature is your new best friend! This guide will show you how to quickly copy an existing automation, saving you time and effort.

Why Should I Clone an Automation?

Cloning is a simple way to work smarter, not harder. Here’s why it’s so useful:

  • ⏰ Save Time and Effort: Instead of recreating complex steps, triggers, and rules, just copy an existing automation in seconds.

  • ✅ Stay Consistent: Ensure your marketing logic and branding are the same across similar campaigns. No more worrying about missed steps!

  • 🧪 Test and Improve: Easily create a second version of a successful automation to test new subject lines, timing, or offers to see what works best.

Step-by-Step Guide to Cloning Your Automation

Follow these four simple steps to make a copy of any automation.

1. Go to Your Automations

From your BayEngage dashboard, click Automations in the left-hand menu, and then select My Automations.

2. Find the Automation to Copy

Scroll through your list to find the specific automation you want to duplicate.

3. Start the Cloning Process

On the right side of that automation's row, click the More actions menu (it looks like three dots ...). From the dropdown, select Clone Campaign.

4. Name and Confirm Your New Automation

A pop-up window will appear. It's a good idea to give your new automation a clear, descriptive name (e.g., "Welcome Series - V2 Test" or “Copy of Welcome Series).

Once you've named it, click the Clone button.

Heads Up! Your New Automation is Inactive

For your safety, all cloned automations start as Inactive.

This gives you a chance to review the settings, make any changes you need, and activate it only when you're ready for it to go live. Don't forget to switch it on!|

Special Case: Automations for Signup Popups

This is important! Some automations are directly linked to a signup form (like those named "User signed via popup").

You cannot clone these directly from the Automations page.

To copy one of these, you need to clone the signup form it's connected to. When you clone the form, BayEngage will automatically create a perfect copy of its linked automation for you.

Rule of Thumb:

  • To copy a regular automation -> Clone the Automation.

  • To copy an automation tied to a signup form -> Clone the Form.

By following these steps, you can easily replicate your most successful strategies, saving valuable time and keeping your marketing messages consistent.

The most important takeaway? Always remember to review your new automation and switch it from "Inactive" to "Active" when you're ready for it to go live.
