Ever had a customer forget to use a discount code you sent them? The Coupon Auto-Apply feature solves this by automatically applying the discount for them at checkout, making it easier to save and boosting your sales. This guide will walk you through the feature's purpose, operation, and setup for your specific eCommerce store.

What is Coupon Auto-Apply?

In simple terms, it’s magic for your coupons.

When a customer receives one of your BayEngage emails containing a coupon, they just need to click any link in that email to visit your store. Our system remembers the coupon for them. When they add products to their cart and go to checkout, the discount is already applied. They don't have to copy, paste, or type a thing!

The Customer's Journey:

  1. You send a BayEngage email with a coupon offer.

  2. Your customer clicks a link in the email (to a product, your homepage, etc.).

  3. They shop on your site and add items to their cart.

  4. When they reach the checkout page, the discount is automatically applied!

How to Set It Up on Your Store

Setup depends on which e-commerce platform you use: Shopify, BigCommerce, or WooCommerce.

Find your platform below for specific instructions.

For Shopify Stores:

Good news! There are no extra steps required.

The Coupon Auto-Apply feature works right out of the box. As long as you include a coupon code in your BayEngage email, the discount will be automatically applied at checkout for any customer who clicks through.

  • Works with: All store links in your emails.

  • Action Needed: None. It's ready to go!

For BigCommerce Stores:

Important Note: For BigCommerce, this feature is designed for specific automation flows to help recover sales and encourage new shoppers.

It is automatically active for the following two automations:

  1. Abandoned Checkout Automation: If a customer leaves items in their cart, the follow-up email can include a coupon that gets applied automatically when they return to complete their purchase.

  2. User Start a Cart Session Automation: Encourage new shoppers to finish their purchase by automatically applying a coupon as soon as they start adding items to their cart.

  • Works with: Abandoned Checkout and Start a Cart Session automations.

  • Action Needed: None, but remember it only works within these specific flows.

For WooCommerce Stores:

Action is required. To use this feature, you need to connect BayEngage with your store using a plugin.

Follow these two simple steps:

  1. Install the Plugin: You must install a compatible auto-apply plugin on your WooCommerce store.

  2. Update the Plugin Key: After installing the plugin, go to its settings and update the specific key field to auto_apply. This step is mandatory for the feature to work.

Once configured, the feature will work for all store links sent from your BayEngage emails.

  • Works with: All store links, after setup.

  • Action Needed: Install the plugin and update the key to auto_apply.
