  • This segmentation involves targeting users who have previously visited or viewed a product on your online store.

  • The “Viewed a Product” filter is available under the new section “Store Activities”.

  • The segment can be filtered based on the product or product custom fields if we need to drill down on a specific type of product that the customers have viewed.

  • The prerequisite for using this functionality is to have “Page tracking” enabled at store level. Currently the page tracking functionality is available only for “Shopify” stores.

Configure viewed a product in BayEngage:

This Viewed a product segmentation is available to setup in 3 places

A) List & Segments option

Step 1: In the BayEngage app, click on the “Lists & Segments” option from the left hand side menu.

Step 2: Click the “Create Segment” option on the top right corner to create segmentation.

Step 3: In the “Include people based on” drop down, click on the option “Viewed a product” under the “Store Activities” menu.

Step 4: To drill down the specific types, click the “FILTER BY” and select the

“Products” option.

Step 5: This product filter will allow us to segment based on the product “custom fields” available on the online store. Search using all the product variables, not just the generic product search terms, such as “product name”, “tag name”, or “collection name”.

B) User Filter/User Split:

You can also configure “Viewed a product” condition on the user filter of an automation flow.

Step 2: Click the “USER FILTER”.

Step 3: You can configure the “Viewed a product” segmentation here.

  • In the Automation flow, you can configure the “Viewed a product” as a condition in the “USER SPLIT”.

Use case:

  • The online t-shirt brand wants to target their customers based on the different product categories. The product categories can be size, color, brand, gender, etc.

  • You can personalize your customers' experience by sending promotions related to the product that they have viewed on your website.
