What is the product custom field?

  • This allows businesses to store and manage the products with one or more custom fields. Examples are sports, gender, occasion, festival etc.

  • It is basically any list of custom categories apart from the usual product attributes like brand, name, etc.

  • These fields help store owners to customize and personalize the campaign with the product custom fields.

  • This flexibility can improve efficiency, customer satisfaction, and make data-driven decisions.

  • Businesses can segment based on custom fields to create personalized buying journeys for their customers.

Note: Currently custom field is supported for Salesforce

Configure product custom fields in BayEngage:

Product custom fields is available to setup in,

  1. Lists & Segments ( all segments that have product filter)

  2. Automation ( all automations that have product filter, both in activity filter and user filter)

Steps to use this filter:

1. Lists & Segments:

Step 1: Create a segment.

To create segment: BayEngage-> Lists & Segments -> Create Segment

Step 2: In the “Include people based on” drop down, click on the option “Purchased product” under the “Purchase Behavior” menu.

Step 3: Click on the “Products” dropdown to segment based on the product custom fields.

Step 4: The custom fields/tags that are created on your online store will be displayed on the dropdown.

Target the right customers using product custom fields for impactful email & SMS campaigns.

2. Automations:

Step 1: Create an automation

To create an automation: BayEngage-> Automations-> Create Automations-> “When a user viewed a product” and assign a name for the automation.

Note: In automation, we can configure the product custom fields in a Placed order, Viewed a product, and Checkout started automations.

Step 2: Click on the “ACTIVITY FILTER” to configure the product custom fields.

Step 3: Click on the “Products” option under the “Include activity based on” drop-down menu.

Step 4: Here, you can configure the product custom fields that are created from the store side.

Use case:

  • Consider there are two distinct sets of users, one group interested in running, and the other group interested in swimming.

  • Categorize the running products like shoes, socks etc under the “Running” product custom field.

  • Personalize and send campaigns to those users who are interested in running using the specific “Running” custom field.

  • This would effectively attract the customer and increase conversion rates.

  • Likewise, we can target users who are interested in swimming products by using the required custom field.

  • This helps us to reach customers at their touchpoints by promoting products that align with their interests.
