What is a DNS record?

Within authoritative DNS servers, DNS (Domain Name System) records play a pivotal role by offering a set of instructions. These records disclose pertinent information about a domain, such as the associated IP address, and provide guidance on managing requests for that domain. Prominent DNS record types include CNAME, TXT, A, DKIM, DMARC, SPF, and MX.

Importance of adding DNS records in your Email Deliverability:

Beyond authenticating sending IPs, DNS records contribute to heightened safety and security, acting as a defense against spam and phishing attacks. These records are instrumental in guaranteeing the delivery of your emails to your recipient's inboxes.

To add DNS records in Google Domains, follow these steps:

Step 1: Open your web browser and go to Google Domains. Sign in to your Google account if you're not already signed in.

Step 2: Click the "Manage" button next to the domain where you want to add DNS records.

Step 3: Select “DNS Option” or “DNS Settings” where you can manage your DNS records

Step 4: Click on the "Manage custom records" button.

Step 5:Click on the "Create new record" button.

Step 6: You'll see a section where you can add various types of DNS records like A, CNAME, MX, etc. Choose the type of record you want to add.

Step 7: For each record, you'll typically need to provide details such as the name, type, TTL (Time to Live), and the actual record value.

For example, if you're adding a CNAME record to point to another domain, you'd enter the name (subdomain), type (CNAME), and the value (target domain).

Step 8: After filling in the details, there should be a "Save" or "Add" button. Click to save your changes.

Note:

The DNS record may take up to 48 hours to update.
