Modifying your trip dates on Tarlen

We make it easy to modify your trip dates before and after your trip has started.

Steps to Modify your trip dates on the App

  1. Navigate to the “Trips” tab in your account.

  2. If you’re modifying an upcoming trip, find it under “Upcoming Trips” and select the trip.

  3. If your trip has already started, you can find it under the “Trip-in-Progress” section on the home page. Alternatively, locate your active trip in the “Trips” tab at the bottom of the page, just above the bottom navigation menu.

  4. Tap on the trip to view its details.

  5. Select the “Modify Your Trip” option.

  6. In the "Trip Modification" page, adjust your dates and select the new start and end times.

  7. Scroll down to review and confirm any new charges.

  8. Ensure your card details are correct and you have sufficient funds before completing the trip update.

  9. Tap “Update Trip” to submit your updated dates and process payment for the new charges.

Host Approval

  • If your trip has already started, your modification request will be sent to your Host for approval.

  • If your trip has not started but requires Host approval for bookings, your request will also be sent to them.

Discounts and Adjustments

  • Extending Your Trip: If the new trip length qualifies for a long-term discount offer, it will automatically apply to your updated trip price.

  • Shortening Your Trip: If your shorter trip length falls below the threshold for a previously applied duration discount, additional charges may apply. These will be calculated based on the current discount offer on that listing at the time of the change request.

Reasons you can't extend your trip

  1. Vehicle Unavailability: The vehicle might not be available for the dates you want to extend your trip to.

  2. Host’s Schedule: Your Host may already have another trip booked for those dates and cannot adjust the availability.

What you can do

  • Contact your Host to see if they can make the vehicle available for your desired dates.

  • If the vehicle is already reserved for another trip, you may need to consider alternative dates or a different vehicle.

What you shouldn't do

Do not keep the vehicle past the return time if your extension request is unsuccessful or was rejected by the Host. This action violates Tarlen’s Terms of Service and may result in penalties and violation fees.
