Updated over 3 weeks ago

Overview

The Student dashboard is a personalized homepage designed to help students resume learning, explore new products, and stay on track. The layout is dynamic and organized by students’ needs, so each section only appears when relevant.

Key benefits / use cases

  • Resume learning quickly: Students can pick up where they left off with a personalized layout.

  • Surface relevant products: Recommended content is shown based on enrollment and progress.

  • Encourage discovery: The Explore section highlights new products and learning opportunities.

How the student dashboard works

The student dashboard updates automatically based on each user’s progress and enrollment. Sections will appear or hide depending on what’s available for that student.

Jump back in

  • Who sees this: Students with at least one in-progress course.

  • What it shows: A list of up to 4 in-progress courses, sorted by progress (highest to lowest).

This helps students quickly return to the content they’re actively working on.

My library

  • Who sees this: All logged-in students.

  • What it shows: Up to 4 products the student is enrolled in, sorted by their logged-in catalog sort (e.g., In progress or Name A–Z). Learn how to change the default sort on.

This is a complete view of everything the student currently has access to.

Completed courses

  • Who sees this: Students who have completed at least one course.

  • What it shows: Up to 4 courses where all lessons have been completed, sorted by last completed.

This section makes it easy to review or revisit finished content.

Explore additional products

  • Who sees this: Students with access to public, unenrolled products.

  • What it shows: Up to 2 available products the student hasn’t enrolled in yet, sorted by the logged-out catalog sort (e.g., Name A–Z or Recommended order).

This section drives discovery and encourages students to continue learning.

Customizing Your Dashboard

You can create and customize a hero section for your student dashboard and product catalog to:

  • Feature key products or offers

  • Add a welcome message

  • Guide students to the right content

Use links to connect students to important tools, resources, or experiences—inside or outside of Teachable.

Hide the student dashboard

The Student dashboard is designed to be the primary homepage for most schools. However, some schools with specific configurations may choose not to use it.

Examples include schools that:

  • Only offer coaching or digital downloads

  • Don’t follow a linear or course-based learning experience

  • Use a custom flow that relies primarily on the product catalog

How to hide the dashboard

  1. Go to Site > Student experience

  2. Open the Dashboard tab

  3. Toggle off Show the student dashboard for your students

What happens when the dashboard is hidden

When disabled:

  • Dashboard customization options are no longer available

  • The dashboard link is removed from site navigation

  • Students who attempt to access the dashboard are redirected to Browse Products

Note: We recommend keeping the student dashboard enabled for most schools, as it helps students resume learning and discover relevant content more easily.

FAQs

Who is considered a student?

Anyone who has created an account within your Teachable school.

Can I customize what students see on the dashboard?

You can create and customize a hero section and dashboard links to feature key products or offers, add a welcome message, or guide students to the right content.

The rest of the student dashboard dynamically adjusts based on each student’s activity and access. However, you can influence what appears by updating your product visibility, enrollment, and sort order settings.

Why don’t some students see all four sections?

Sections only appear if relevant. For example, a student who hasn’t completed any courses won’t see the Completed courses section.

How is the Explore section different from the catalog?

Explore only shows unenrolled products directly on the dashboard. For a full browsing experience—including filters and search—students can visit the full Browse Products page.
