Setting Lesson Costs

Lesson costs are set automatically when you when you add or edit lessons, or optionally when you edit cost settings Costs are set based on the billing method on the student's profile using one of the following options:

  • Use Service List Price

  • Use Student Profile Price

  • Flat Fee Billing

  • Package Billing

Hourly Rate from Student Profile

When a lesson is scheduled, the cost will automatically be set using the hourly rate set on the student's profile multiplied by the duration of the lesson.

Hourly Rate from Price List

When a lesson is scheduled, the cost will be set automatically based on the service selected for the lesson and the cost that was set for the service in your Service List. This rate will be multiplied by the duration of the lesson.

Cost & Wage Premium

If a student has a cost & wage premium set on their profile, the amount that will be added to their lesson cost is based on the amount set in your "Cost & Wage Premiums" list.

Discounts

If you've set a discount on a student's profile, the discount will be applied to the the total cost of the lesson, including the cost premium if it has been applied.

Flat Fee

The cost of the lessons are set to zero as the client is being charged a flat rate on their invoice.

Package

The cost of the lessons are set to zero as the client is paying for their lessons when they purchase a package of lessons.

NOTE: Lesson costs are on a per student basis. If you have multiple students from one family in the same lesson, the lesson costs will be calculated per each student, not the family itself.

NOTE: When updating a student's billing method, the cost for existing lessons will not be updated automatically. If you wish to update these lessons to use the new billing method settings, you can click on the "Update the cost for existing lessons belonging to this student beginning on today's date" setting under the "Billing Details" section.
