Overview

As an Administrator, you can customize goal types in Teamflect to better align with your organization’s structure, terminology, and objectives. Tailoring these types improves usability and ensures consistency across teams.

Step 1: Access Goal Types in the Admin Center

  1. Log in to the Admin Center: https://admin.teamflect.com

  2. Navigate to the Goals module and select Goal types.

Step 2: Add, Edit, and Arrange Goal Types

  1. Add New: Click Add new goal type to create a custom goal.

  2. Edit Existing: Click Edit next to any existing goal type to modify its attributes.

  3. Reorder: Use the arrows beside goal types to adjust their display sequence.

  4. Customize Display: Change names to reflect familiar terminology and, if applicable, associate goal types with user attributes like department, division, country, or branch.

Step 3: Understand Default Goal Levels

Teamflect offers three built-in goal levels:

Level

Description

Individual

Personal or small-group goals shown in “My Goals” and relevant profiles; not listed on the main “Goals” page.

Group/Attribute

Tied to attributes (e.g., department) and visible via a distinct tab; visibility depends on privacy settings.

Company

Organization-wide goals visible by default (unless restricted) and listed in a dedicated tab.

Note: To learn more about setting user attributes in Teamflect, please refer to this article here. Individual and Company levels cannot be linked to user attributes. Only Group/Attribute level goal types support such associations.

By connecting the goal type to a specific user attribute in Teamflect, the system will automatically create a dedicated tab within the Goals module tailored to that user attribute.

This functionality mirrors the current setup, where, for instance, selecting the goal type as ''Department'' results in a dedicated ''Department'' tab in the app. Similarly, when a goal type is customized, the associated goals will be neatly listed under the relevant tab within the app.

Step 4: Configure Visibility for Group/Attribute Goals

Set who can view Group/Attribute-level goals:

  1. Users will only see the goals in their group: Users will have visibility over the goal only if they're in the assigned goal group. (If they're in the Sales department, they'll have visibility for the goals assigned to this department.)

  2. All groups will be visible to the users: Regardless of their inclusion in the group, they'll have visibility over the goals assigned to this group. (Even if they're not in the Sales department, they'll have visibility over the public goals assigned to this department.)

Step 5: Assign Authorization Levels

Decide who can create or assign each goal type:

  • Self Assignable: Available to all users, but can only be assigned to oneself.

  • Managers to their direct reports: Accessible to managers (people who have at least 1 direct report) to be assigned to the direct reports. Only Managers can assign these goals to their direct reports and direct reports have no usage of this goal to assign to other users.

  • Scoped Admins to the employees in their scope: Restricted to Scoped Administrators to assign to people who are in their scope only (ex: department, location, division, etc.) The Scoped Administrator access type is determined by the User Roles.

  • Global Admins: Only the Global Administrators will have access to use that goal and assign it to other employees.

Step 6: Customize Visuals

  • Personalize your goal types using visuals:

  • Color: Input HEX codes for your preferred colors.

  • Icon: Choose from the provided icon set.

  • Once you're happy with the setup, click Save. Your changes will take effect in the “Goals” module.

  • The Goals module will then reflect your customized settings, ensuring seamless integration with your company's structure, preferred terminologies, and visual preferences.

Summary:

By organizing the process into clear steps, access, customize, configure visibility, assign permissions, personalize visuals, you can proactively manage goal types to suit your organizational needs. Each goal type can then serve as a powerful tool for alignment, growth, and collaboration.

Comprehensive Use Cases

  1. Enhanced Departmental Objectives

Tailor specific goal types to align with the unique objectives of different departments within your organization. For instance, by customizing goal types for the sales team, you can focus on sales targets, client acquisition, and revenue generation. Similarly, for the marketing department, the emphasis might be on campaign performance, brand visibility, and lead generation. This alignment ensures that each department's efforts contribute directly to overall organizational goals.

  2. Strategic Employee Development

Customize goal types to facilitate employee development and growth. By defining distinct goal types for skill enhancement, professional certifications, and training programs, you can actively support employee career progression. This approach not only encourages personal development but also contributes to a skilled and competent workforce, fostering a culture of continuous learning within the organization.

  3. Streamlined Performance Management

Utilize customized goal types to streamline the performance management process. By assigning specific goal types to different employee roles, you can effectively monitor and evaluate individual and team performance. This approach allows for a targeted assessment of key performance indicators, enabling timely feedback and appropriate recognition for exceptional contributions.

  4. Promotion of Organizational Values

Align goal types with the core values and principles of your organization. By integrating values such as innovation, teamwork, and customer-centricity into the goal-setting process, you can foster a culture that emphasizes these key principles. Customizing goal types to reflect these values reinforces the importance of organizational culture, promoting a cohesive and values-driven work environment.

  5. Facilitation of Cross-Functional Collaboration

Customize goal types to encourage cross-functional collaboration and synergy. By creating shared goals that involve multiple departments or teams, you can promote collaboration and communication across different functions. This approach fosters a sense of unity and shared purpose, leading to increased efficiency, innovation, and overall organizational success.
