TeamOhana dynamically maps out the structure of your organization using the reporting structure from your HRIS. The Org Chart serves as both a visual tool as well as a place where you can take action to expand and reorganize your team.
Note: this Help Center article is a general and high-level overview of the Org Chart. For support with specific Org Chart features, check out the other articles in our Org Chart collection.
When you open the Org Chart tab, you will first land on "My org" which will show you your own reporting structure on the org chart. You will have the option to toggle over to the "Full org" via a dropdown at the top of the page.
Employee cards
On each employee's card, you'll find their name, title, and department. If they manage a team, the number of direct reports they have will be shown under their avatar.
If they oversee multiple layers of people (eg a Director, or a Division leader) the total number of their direct and indirect reports will be shown beneath their title (in the screenshot above, Julia has 2 direct reports and 23 total people in her reporting line.) The color of their card corresponds to their department.
Each employee's card also has three vertical dots which appear upon hovering over the card on its right side which contain a menu. This menu allows you to "Add headcount" (which creates a new headcount request with this employee as its reporting manager), "clone headcount" (which effectively copies this employee's details onto a new headcount request) "update reporting manager" (which allows you to have the employee report into a TBH) and "create backfill" (which also copies this employee's details onto a new headcount request, but the request would replace this employee.)
Clicking on an employee card will open a drawer on the right side of the screen that contains their employment and compensation information and history. All of this information pulls from your HRIS. You can also take action from this drawer, like initiating an internal transfer, adding the employee to a team, or adding him/her to an initiative.
Headcount cards
In addition to your current employees, the Org Chart also features in-approval and approved headcount so you can visualize what your organization will look like in the future. The headcount cards contain a job title, headcount ID, target start date, hiring status, and department.
Each headcount's card also has three vertical dots on its right side that appear upon hovering which contain a menu. This menu allows you to "Add headcount" (which creates a new headcount request with this employee as its reporting manager), "clone headcount" (which effectively copies this employee's details onto a new headcount request) "update reporting manager" (which allows you to have the headcount report into a TBH).
Clicking on a headcount card will open the headcount details drawer. This drawer contains more information about the approved hire and enables users, permissions-permitting, to take a variety of actions pertaining to the hiring of that headcount.
Navigating the org chart
At the top of of the screen, you'll see the ability to search and view the organization in different ways. Each of these actions allows you to manipulate the org chart in order to analyze the current and future state of your organization and make necessary changes as you see fit.
The org chart can be navigated by zooming in and out and grabbing and dragging the org chart around. You can also hit the - and + signs on the bottom of the screen to zoom in or out.
You are also able to update the reporting manager of a TBH or an employee by dragging and dropping their card on top of another card on the org chart.
Dragging a TBH card onto another TBH card or onto an employee card will update the reporting manager of the TBH in TeamOhana
Dragging an employee card onto a TBH card or another employee card will only update the reporting manager of the employee in TeamOhana and will not update the HRIS. Their reporting manager in the HRIS will be preserved and will be represented on the org chart by a star icon showing the employee's "acting manager"
The call-outs across the top of the page act almost like filters: when you select one of the call-outs, arrows will appear that enable you to easily jump from each node in the filter to the next on the org chart. The selected node will be highlighted while the rest of the org chart will be slightly grayed out as you move from one to the next.
Clicking the circle next to "Drafts" will reset the filter.
