In our second product release notes of the year, we're sharing a highly-anticipated addition to the Scenarios feature and a new approval flow specifically for backfill requests.

New features

Org view in Scenarios

In addition to building out a Scenario in a spreadsheet-like, table view, customers are now able to see visually how their organization will evolve with their new plan in an org chart view.

Because the Modify plan template includes already approved open headcount as well as in-seat employees, the org view of the scenario brings in all the context you need to understand how your proposed new headcount will impact your organizational structure.

After adding draft headcount in the List view, simply toggle over to the Org view tab and see your draft in its respective position in the organizational hierarchy. You will be able to identify drafts because their status will be "Draft" and they'll have a yellow draft icon at the top of the node.

Read more about the Org view and all other aspects of the Scenarios module in this help center article.

Separate approval flow for backfills

Backfill requests usually go through a different approval process than requests for unplanned, incremental headcount: they are often budget-neutral and are typically a high priority, and thus are slightly less scrutinized than requests for net new hires.

You can now customize your approval flows in TeamOhana to accommodate these different processes. Those with admin access in the platform will be able to create backfill approval flows by navigating to Settings > Approval Policy. Next to the "New hire" tab, there is a new tab called "Backfill." After clicking the Backfill tab, click "+ Add rule" to build new backfill-specific approval flows.

When a headcount request is created in TeamOhana and the headcount type is "Backfill," that request will follow these backfill flows rather than the new hire flows.

Note: by default, all backfill approval workflows are set to match the new hire approval workflows. To make changes, follow the instructions below.

Enhancements

  • Headcount ID column added to all Hiring Plan tabs

  • Backfills tracked on the Recruiting Workboard

  • Changes to Hiring plan and Headcount tab occur in real time; no manual refresh needed
