What is preview mode?

When you are creating or editing an Activity Plan, your Surfboard schedule will enter preview mode.

Preview mode is not the same as the schedule

Preview mode lets you preview how your activity plan may look once it’s applied to your schedule. Activity Plans are dynamic and adapt to the surfers and hours available on each day. So if anyone changes shifts, books time off or syncs calendar events, the final result will look a little different.

How do I know if I'm in preview mode?

When you click 'create new activity plan' or edit an existing activity plan, you'll automatically enter preview mode.

The header of the page will change slightly compared to the schedule and a purple line will appear.

How do I navigate and use preview mode?

Preview different dates

When you enter preview mode, it will default to the schedule for today's date.
You can preview this activity plan across different dates to see how it’ll work with surfers' upcoming shifts and time off.

You can change the week you're viewing using the date picker, or the individual days of the week using the day buttons.

Preview different timezones
As with the schedule, you can change your timezone when scheduling international teams. This will default to your local (computer's) timezone by default.

Filter surfers

You can filter by individual surfers or teams to check

💡 Tip: If you are creating an activity plan for a specific event which will also have different shifts, we recommend applying the shift plan in draft first, so you can properly preview your rules.

Can I edit the schedule in preview mode?

The schedule that you see in preview mode updates every time you change a break or activity rule in your Activity Plan.

You cannot manually edit or change anything in the preview schedule. You can make manual edits once it's applied to your schedule.

How often does the schedule in preview mode update?

If you have auto-preview toggled on, then the schedule preview will update anytime you edit any rule, this includes individual edits like changing coverage, session length or assignments.

If you have auto-preview toggled off, then the schedule preview will only update when you click the 'update preview' button, or save a rule.
