Surfers can be trained in any number of activities. Some work as generalists, where they can do anything, whereas others are specialists, working only on select activities.
Add on new joiners and senior staff and knowing who can do what can get messy - fast!
We've made it easier to ensure you always have to right surfer on the right task in Surfboard.
How to assign skills to surfers
You can assign activities to surfers to mark them as 'trained' on that activity. This then speeds up scheduling as you don't need to select and remember who is trained and who isn't.
There are two ways to assign skills to surfers:
From the surfer page:
Go to the surfer page
Select the surfer you want to assign skills to
Open the dropdown under 'skills' and select all of the activities this surfer is trained to do.
Hit save
When creating or editing an activity
Create or edit an activity
Open the dropdown under 'Surfers skilled in this activity' and select all of the surfers who are trained to do this activity.
Hit save
π You can't give a surfer a break as a skill, breaks are scheduled using Activity Plans.
π‘ Tip: You'll need to reapply any activity plans using the 'anyone trained in...' option to start scheduling activities for newly assigned surfers.
How to schedule faster using skills
You've assigned your skills to surfers, now it's time to use them!
When you're creating an activity rule, select the 'anyone trained in...' option to automatically select all surfers with this activity assigned as a skill.
