The Polygon Tool will allow you to create a shape with straight lines.
Use the 'Zoom to Box' tool located on the right-hand side of the mapping area to zoom in closer to your mapping area.
2. Choose the 'Polygon Tool'.
3. Move your point to the first point and click. Continue to move and click until the entire area is shaded.
4. Double-click to finish.
A. Center Marker: A great way to drop a point to pull in the grower's address or the location information for the farm/field/planting being mapped.
B. Layer Picker: Use this tool to select a different layer when mapping (ESRI, Google, etc)
5. If you are satisfied with the boundary, enter the required information and select 'Save'
Adding an Exclusion
Once you have drawn a polygon, you can add an exclusion for a building, pond, tree, etc.
Make sure the 'Polygon Tool' is selected.
2. Move the mouse to the first point and click. Continue moving and clicking until you complete your shape. This will remove the shading from your polygon, creating an exclusion.
3. Double-click to complete your shape.
4. Select 'Save'.
