TELUS Food Safety & Quality Insights: Interacting with Reporting Content
Overview
Welcome to this guide on interacting with content on Insights, your reporting tool in TELUS Food Safety & Quality (TFSQ).
If you have access, you can follow along while reading this guide. Keep in mind that you'll see your own content and not what's shown in examples.
Getting Started
To make use of Insights, the first thing you need to do is navigate to the reports page.
Important: The data is updated once every 24 hours. This takes place overnight in the UK, so the likelihood is any data you look at will not include activity performed in TFSQ on that day. The other reports available do use live data though.
Accessing Dashboards
Scroll down and you'll see you have a number of dashboards available. If you hover over them, you'll see an example of the report on the screen.
To make use of Insights' interactive functionality, select the relevant dashboard name.
Interacting with Dashboard Data
Here's a dashboard that's been published already. We can interact with the information that's on this report, including using filters the author has set up for us.
Now that we've filtered the data and got the view we want, there are a few things we can do.
Viewing Full Data Details
For example, if we want to find out more about part of the dashboard, we have permissions to view the full data indicated by this icon. By clicking on this, it allows us to see the specific details of the individual transactions.
Creating Custom Views
We can also create a custom view of the dashboard, essentially remembering these interactions. This way, we can quickly come back to the specific configuration of this view easily, allowing us to keep an eye on the specific filters applied without having to set them repeatedly.
To do this, the first thing we need to do is click on View.
We now need to give the custom view a name, and we have the option to share this by making it public so others have visibility.
Don't worry though, making a view public only makes it available to people in your organization that have access to Insights.
Managing Views
We can easily toggle between the different views we have access to.
It's also easy to manage our saved view settings. Select the View option and choose Manage.
As you can see, pressing this button enables you to either rename or delete the view.
Downloading Data
Maybe we're responsible for overseeing this focus area and need to review the data. It might be best to download the relevant information in these circumstances.
To do this, press Download and we're presented with a number of options:
You can export the dashboard as a PDF or an image file
You can select Cross Tab to export the high level statistics in Excel
You can export the full data to a CSV file
Having access to the full data could be beneficial if you want to undertake additional analysis.
Drilling into Data
You can also drill into the data contained in the dashboard by selecting various parts of the page.
To display the unfiltered data again, simply press the same data item, or you can use the revert button.
Alternatively, select View, then Original, and you'll be presented with the dashboard you started with.
Using Dashboard Tabs
Another thing you might have noticed is the tabs at the top of the report. To explore what data is contained within these, simply click on the tab name and the system will take you to a new page. You can then interrogate this further the same as we did on the assessment type dashboard.
