  1. To begin an assessment, click on Start new check on the Dashboard.

  2. From the list available, select the relevant Shelf life assessment type.

3. You will navigate to the Header.

4. Answer the relevant questions by typing in responses or selecting from a drop-down list.

Please note:

  • A red asterisk indicates mandatory questions (*).

  • If you have a Case End Barcode, you can use the device’s camera to scan the barcode and the header will automatically populate various data fields.

5. Once the Header is complete, press Select assessment.

6. Select the assessment you want from the drop-down menu.

7. The Assessment tab will display, allowing you to complete your TFSQ QC Check for the first day (“day 0”):

In the same way as for other assessment types, you can add comments, view guidance, log corrective actions and add photos for each question by pressing the three vertical dots button to its right. The options will display in a pop-up box.

8. Enter responses in the space beneath each question.

9. If you need to add images that are not specific to a question, press Attachments.

10. Press the Select Attachment button to import a photo from your device’s gallery, take a photo using the camera, or add a PDF file.

13. When all images are added, return to the Assessment tab to check everything is correct.

14. At the bottom of the screen, the total score will show (right) and the outcome (middle) will show as Green, Amber or Red.

The overall flag can be manually overridden if required by selecting the relevant flag and confirming the action. Please note that this setting can only be enabled by our support team.

15. Tap the comments box and the keyboard will appear, allowing you to add any relevant comments or provide justification for amending the result.

16. There are more options if you press the three dots at the top right of the screen:

  • Show Specification – If there has been a specification document attached to the check, you will be able to use this option to view the document.

  • View Guidance – If any text guidance has been attached to the check, you will be able to view this here. If any guidance was attached as a photo, this will appear under Specification.

  • Save as Draft – This is a really important option for Shelf-life checks; use this option after you complete your daily checks. This will remain on the device until it is finalised and completed. The data will upload in TFSQ Office when synchronised, however, the TFSQ QC Check status will show as Incomplete until this is finalised.

  • Complete and Repeat – Only use this option when you have completed your Shelf-life check and are ready to submit this.

  • Log Corrective Action – Use when the issue is with the TFSQ QC Check generally and not a specific question.

17. When you have completed your first day’s shelf-life check, choose Save as a Draft.

18. To reopen your shelf-life check to perform your second day’s check, log in to the app and go to the View check history page:

19. Press the check to open it; you will navigate to the Assessment page for “day 0”.

20. Press the arrow to open the assessment for “day 1”:

21. Provide your responses on the TFSQ QC Check for the day.

22. Repeat steps 7-21 until your shelf-life check can be finished (e.g. after six days). The asterisk below indicates you have reached the set target days.

When you have reached the set Shelf life days, the arrow selecting the next day will no longer be available.

23. ONLY TO BE USED WHEN ALL DAILY CHECKS HAVE BEEN PERFORMED: Press Complete to submit your finalised TFSQ QC Check; you will return to the app’s homepage.

Please note:

  • It is very important to ensure that all the checks you have completed are synchronised before the device is stored away at the end of a shift or passed to a colleague. TELUS Food Safety & Quality recommends users sync their devices after each set of TFSQ QC Checks (sync regularly during the day), otherwise at the end of the day's checking and before logging out to ensure all the data is sent to TFSQ Office and is up to date for the Administrators.

  • TFSQ QC Checks saved as draft will transfer their data during a sync, however, it's status will show as Incomplete.

  • Once your device successfully syncs the completed TFSQ QC Checks, they will remain on your device for seven days.
