What taxes am I faced with on Temper Staff?

Only annual income tax is relevant for you. There’s no VAT for your Temper Staff shifts

Written by Temper | Work to Live

When you’re working shifts through Temper Staff, tax is pretty straightforward. Because you’re an employee, not a freelancer, the main tax to be aware of is income tax. VAT is only relevant for freelancers. Here’s what you need to know:

Income tax only

The main tax to be aware of is income tax. Temper, your employer on Temper Staff, handles this by deducting it straight from your paycheck, so you don’t have to worry about filing for VAT (btw-aangifte)—that’s only for freelancers.

Loonheffingskorting discount

You can choose to activate loonheffingskorting (payroll tax credit), a tax discount that reduces how much tax is taken from each paycheck, giving you a bit more take-home pay. Here’s more info on what payroll tax credit is and how to switch it on.

Annual statement (Jaaropgaaf)

Temper pays your wages net of taxes, so you don’t have to do extra calculations. At the beginning of the next year, you will be able to download your 'jaaropgaaf' (annual statement) in the financial overview in the app. This includes a full summary of your income and taxes paid. You’ll use this document for your annual income tax return, which is due between March 1 and April 30 in the Netherlands.

With Temper Staff, taxes are a lot easier, no VAT filings, and tax is deducted for you. All the essentials are handled, so you can focus on working, not worrying about taxes.
