For necessary background, please preread Event Correction Explained before proceeding with this article.
Purpose
This guide explains how to configure and apply Event Correction to stabilize forecasts and safety stock calculations after an unusual trading period such as a pandemic, strike, or system-wide disruption.
Step 1: Enable Event Correction
Go to Settings > Configuration > History tab.
Select Enable this feature.
You’ll now see a historical monthly calendar for correcting for sales and purchasing activity.
Step 2: Correct Sales History
Identify the months where sales were abnormally high or low.
For each affected month, select a replacement month that represents normal trading.
Choose the last good “normal” month before the event.
If your business is seasonal, choose the same month from the previous year.
The selected replacement month’s data will substitute the disrupted sales months for forecasting purposes.
Step 3: Correct Purchase History
Identify months when supplier performance or lead times were unreliable.
Tick the box Don't measure purchase orders to exclude orders receipted in those months from lead-time and safety-stock calculations. This prevents temporary supply disruptions from inflating or deflating safety stock.
Step 4: Save Settings
Click Update to save your Event Correction selections.
Step 5: Regenerate Forecasts
⚠️ All users will be locked out of the app while data is reprocessed.
You can also wait until the first day of the next month for the forecasts to regenerate automatically.
⚠️ Watchouts
Admin access required: Only Admin users can enable and configure Event Correction.
Global effect: Event Correction applies across all items and cannot be restricted to individual groups.
Reforecast required: Changes apply only after forecasts are regenerated or the monthly cycle runs.
💡 Tips
Use for widespread events: Apply Event Correction only when an event disrupted a large portion of your product range for an extended period.
Pick representative months: Select replacement months that accurately reflect typical sales and supplier behavior.
Validate results: After regeneration, review your forecasts and safety-stock levels to confirm that patterns appear stable.
