Using TetraBot to record a Zoom meeting

Updated over a year ago

Zoom has recently implemented a new policy related to bots that affects the way TetraBot records your meetings. Keep reading to explore the changes in the recording flow.

How do I record my Zoom meeting with TetraBot?

After setting up the TetraBot by following the instructions here:

The TetraBot will join your meeting and then request to the host to record the meeting.

The Host must press "Allow Recording" and then Tetrabot will begin recording. If you do not allow the bot to record, it will not be record the session. If you do not see a message to allow recording please scroll to the next question.

I didn't see a message to allow recording, is TetraBot recording?

If you do not see the message to allow recording and you do not see the recording notification in the upper left hand corner then TetraBot is NOT recording your meeting.

There may be an setting in your Zoom that is blocking the bot from recording. Make sure you are the host of the meeting and you have "Hosts can give meeting participants permission to record locally" turned on. To turn on, go to your Zoom account. Go to Settings -> Recording -> Advanced Local Recording and make sure it is checked.

It is possible that your Admin has blocked this, and you may need to reach out to your admin to turn this setting for the TetraBot to work with Zoom.

How do I know the TetraBot is recording my Zoom meeting?

You will now see the red dot and "Recording" text in the upper left hand corner after allowing TetraBot to record.

You will also hear the Zoom audio "Recording in progress".

Lastly, all participants will also get a notification that the meeting is being recorded.
