Hedging through correlated instruments on one account and across your own accounts
No. Opening positions on correlated instruments so that they offset each other’s risk is prohibited — both on a single account and across your Texaris accounts.
Texaris assesses a trader’s real ability to manage market risk. If one position offsets another, the account result reflects not a trading decision but a mechanical distribution of profit and loss between positions or accounts. Normal directional trading, including on several instruments at the same time, remains fully permitted.
The rule applies to all Texaris accounts at all stages: Phase 1, Phase 2, Funded and Instant Funding. It takes effect on 26 October 2026 — 7 days after publication.
What are correlated instruments
These are instruments from the same group in the table below: their prices usually move together (direct correlation) or in mirror image (inverse correlation).
Different versions of the same instrument are treated as one instrument. For example, XAUUSD and XAUUSD.PRO are one instrument. Buying on one and selling on the other is a hedge on a single instrument, and the rule “Is hedging allowed?” applies.
What counts as opposing positions
Opposing positions are positions that neutralise each other’s risk:
a buy and a sell on the same instrument — a hedge or lock, prohibited by the separate rule “Is hedging allowed?”;
a buy and a sell on directly correlated instruments — for example, Buy EURUSD and Sell GBPUSD;
positions in the same direction on inversely correlated instruments — for example, Buy EURUSD and Buy USDCHF.
When opposing positions on correlated instruments are a violation
A violation is recorded if opposing positions on correlated instruments meet all three conditions:
volume match of 65% or more (the smaller volume in lots relative to the larger);
opened within 5 minutes of each other;
closed within 5 minutes of each other.
The result of the positions and which one was opened first do not matter.
Texaris correlated instrument groups
Group | Direct correlation | Inverse correlation to the instruments on the left |
USD majors | EURUSD, GBPUSD, AUDUSD, NZDUSD | USDCHF, USDCAD, USDJPY |
EUR crosses | EURGBP, EURJPY, EURCHF, EURAUD, EURCAD, EURNZD | — |
GBP crosses | GBPJPY, GBPCHF, GBPAUD, GBPCAD, GBPNZD | — |
JPY crosses | USDJPY, EURJPY, GBPJPY, AUDJPY, NZDJPY, CADJPY, CHFJPY | — |
AUD / NZD | AUDUSD, NZDUSD, AUDJPY, NZDJPY, AUDCAD, NZDCAD, AUDCHF, NZDCHF | — |
Metals | XAUUSD (incl. XAUUSD.PRO), XAGUSD, XAUEUR, XPTUSD | — |
US indices | SPX500, NAS100, US30 | — |
European indices | DAX, EUSTX50, FRA40, UK100, ESP35 | — |
Oil | USOIL, UKOIL | — |
Cryptocurrencies | BTCUSDT, ETHUSDT, SOLUSDT | — |
Instruments within one column are directly correlated with each other: for example, Buy USDCHF and Sell USDCAD are also opposing positions. One instrument may belong to several groups (for example, USDJPY).
The list is not exhaustive. Texaris may treat other combinations of positions as opposing if they clearly neutralise market risk. Changes to the list take effect 7 days after publication.
1. Opposing positions on correlated instruments on one account
It is prohibited to open opposing positions on correlated instruments on one account that meet the conditions above.
The examples below assume that the position volumes match by 65% or more, and that the positions were opened and closed within 5 minutes of each other.
Situation on one account | Decision |
Buy EURUSD + Sell GBPUSD | Violation: direct correlation |
Buy EURUSD + Buy USDCHF | Violation: inverse correlation |
Buy XAUUSD + Sell XAGUSD | Violation |
Buy NAS100 + Sell SPX500 | Violation |
Buy DAX + Sell EUSTX50 | Violation |
Buy USOIL + Sell UKOIL | Violation |
Buy BTCUSDT + Sell ETHUSDT | Violation |
Buy XAUUSD + Sell XAUUSD.PRO | Hedge on a single instrument — rule “Is hedging allowed?” |
Buy EURUSD + Buy GBPUSD | Allowed: same direction (risk rules and One-side betting apply) |
Buy EURUSD + Sell USOIL | Allowed: different groups |
2. Opposing positions across your accounts
It is prohibited to open opposing positions on correlated instruments that meet the conditions above on different Texaris accounts that belong to you or are traded by you or on your instructions. The account stage (Phase 1, Phase 2, Funded, Instant), its type and size do not matter.
Copying trades between your own accounts in the same direction is allowed without restrictions (see “Is copy trading allowed?”).
Situation | Decision |
Buy NAS100 on account A + Sell SPX500 on account B | Violation: direct correlation |
Buy XAUUSD on a Phase 1 account + Sell XAGUSD on a Funded account | Violation: the account stage does not matter |
Buy EURUSD on account A + Buy USDCHF on account B | Violation: inverse correlation |
Buy EURUSD on account A + Sell EURUSD on account B | Hedge on a single instrument — rule “Is hedging allowed?” |
Buy NAS100 on account A + Buy NAS100 on account B (copier) | Allowed |
Consequences of violations
Compliance with the rule is checked at the transition to Funded and when a payout request is reviewed. Violations are counted per trader as a whole — across all of their Texaris accounts — for the last 90 days. Earlier violations are not counted.
Violation | Consequences |
First violation | Profit from the violating trades is excluded from the payout calculation. The account continues to operate |
Second violation | The account’s profit split is reduced to 50%, and profit from the violating trades is excluded from the payout calculation. The account continues to operate |
Third violation | Breach of account conditions: the account is closed and the account fee is not refunded |
Profit from trades not related to the violation is retained.
A hedge or lock on the same instrument — on one account or across your accounts — is prohibited by the rule “Is hedging allowed?”, and the consequences set by the Texaris Rules for prohibited trading practices apply. Opposite trading with accounts of other traders is governed by the “Coordinated opposite trading” rule.
