To set up a workplace pension, watch the video or follow the steps below.
Click Settings then click Modules.
Turn on the Pension module.
Select a provider or a ghost pension.
Tip: For pensions using a provider, there's a range of providers, some are automated, and some are manual. NEST, People’s, and Smart are all connected to Paycircle with a direct API, while Aviva, L&G and NOW link through the middleware provider, PensionSync. All other providers are manual. If you can’t find the provider you’re looking for, you can add a new one manually.
To automatically auto-enrol any eligible team members into the pension scheme each period, turn on Team assessment.
To generate these communications, turn on the Send pension status communications toggle.
If the provider is one of the ones Paycircle connects to, you can switch on the direct connection. If not, you need to manage uploads to the provider manually.
Enter the staging or start date of the scheme, a deferral date if the start date was postponed, and the next re-enrolment date.
Enter the letter code, the employer pension scheme reference and a description of the pension, the period dates for the pension and the tax relief type for the pension scheme.
Select your postponement settings.
Add the group name then enter the contribution percentages for both employee and employer.
If the group is salary sacrifice, you can also set up employers NI savings to be added on top of the normal employee contribution.
Set the group’s contribution basis.
Authorise an automated pension
If you have set up an automated pension, you need to authorise it. You can do this from the Status tab within Pensions. If the pension is L&G, the scheme doesn’t need to be authorised; this happens automatically.
