EACs must meet certain criteria to be considered eligible for certification. The eligibility requirements are the same for all EACs regardless of their use in VCA or BVC categories, including:
Vintage year: Must fall within the three years up to and including the certification year.
Location: Must take place within the same market region as the energy consumption
Quantity: Must not exceed the amount measured in the GHG inventory
For example, if you report 100 MWh of electricity consumption ( = 100,000 kWh), the purchase of up to 100 RECs will be eligible for certification.
