How to create a product Category

Product categories help categorize your products/services within the system and revenue can be tracked related to the categories that are assigned to your products/services.

Create a Product Category: If you have the permission/access to create product categories, visit the Product Categories page under the inventory builders section of the customize menu. Start by clicking the 'New Product/Service Category' button.

Enter the name of the new category, which is the minimum required information to save/create. Click the save button to create the product category.

If you track sales related to the category by a specific GL accounting code, you may enter is as a reference here as well. Note: we do not match or sync GL codes with QuickBooks.

*If you use the 'discount groups' feature, you may select any discount groups that you would like to automatically apply to all products that get assigned to the category. Discount groups are applied to customers within their customer profile pages. In the example image above, all products/services assigned to the carpet cleaning category will have the 'senior discount' applied to them IF the related customer has the 'senior discount' applied to their pricing options.
