Serial numbers are a unique set of numbers that help you identify similar items uniquely. For example, we could have 5 of the same cordless microphone make/model in our inventory stock that we rent out. Each microphone may have a unique serial number on it, which identifies it specifically. We can save the product serial numbers in the system as a reference to our unique items. This reference to the serial numbers can be helpful especially in a scenario where a client could try to swap and return their broken microphone instead of our working one.

The Serialized Products option allows you to store the serial numbers for your similar, but unique, stock. Rental and Retail products can be set to store serial numbers. When the serial number option is turned on, you can click the serialized toggle in the product profile page, which will enable the serialized products module.

Click 'add' in the serialized products module in order to record and save serial numbers to relate to the product. Enter the number of serial numbers you want to save (max 20 at a time), then enter the serial numbers in the fields displayed, and save.

Note: Serial numbers stored are for reference only. We do not track which serialized product is added to an order. If needing to track which serialized item(s) pertain to an order, you could enter the serial number(s) in the line items notes for that product on the order.
