A smart meter is a new type of meter that provides you and your energy supplier with live information of your energy usage through a wireless network. There are lots of benefits of this meter including more accurate bills, giving you a better understanding and tracking of your usage as well as sending automatic readings to your supplier. Smart meters are free to install and we attempt to change our customers’ old meters to new smart meters.

Important! While smart meters do send readings over to your supplier automatically, it is still recommended you continue to submit meter readings to alleviate any issues that may occur.

Note: If you are a renter and would like to have a smart meter installed you don’t require permission from your landlord as you are responsible for paying the bills. However, we strongly recommend you inform your landlord before having a smart meter installed to avoid any issues that may affect your deposit. For example, if there is any damage caused during your smart meter installation, such as a hole in the wall that wasn’t present when you moved in, you may be liable to pay to repair the damage. Therefore, we advise you to check this with your landlord first.
