What is the Priority Service Register?

The Priority Service Register (PSR) is a free service for identifying people who may need extra help or support during an electricity, gas, or water outage.

Being on the PSR helps us and your utility providers to offer better communication and assistance when needed most.

Who can join the PSR?

You can be eligible if you or someone in your household meets any of the following:

  • Have reached state pension age

  • Are disabled or have a long-term medical condition

  • Are recovering from an injury

  • Have a hearing or sight condition

  • Have a mental health condition

  • Are pregnant or have young children

  • Have extra communication needs (e.g. don’t speak or read English well)

  • Need to use/store medical equipment or medication that requires power

  • Have poor or no sense of smell

  • Struggle to answer the door or get help in an emergency

You may also be able to join the PSR for other reasons, like if you need temporary support after coming home from hospital.

How to register

Both your energy supplier and your network operator maintain their own PSR lists.

To register:

  1. Contact your energy supplier, network operator, or use this direct registration link.

  2. Provide:

    • Your contact details

    • Details of any medical or communication needs

If your gas and electricity come from different suppliers, you’ll need to contact both.

When you switch suppliers, you’ll need to register again with your new provider.
