If we can’t switch your energy supply on your behalf, it is likely because your current supplier has objected to the switch. In this case, we will be unable to continue with the switch until the objection has been removed or resolved, and you will therefore remain on your current energy supply.

We will contact you if we are unable to carry out the switch. Your current supplier cannot discuss the reasons for the objection due to data protection. However, the most common reasons for supply change objections are due to outstanding debt or an unclear address.

Objection because of debt

If your switch is objected to because of outstanding debts owed to your previous supplier, you will need to discuss and resolve this with them directly. This will establish whether the debt applies to the previous or the current occupants of the property. Another reason for an objection in this instance may be because you were already in the house when signing with us and therefore there may be a bill that must be cleared before being transferred over to our supplier.

Unclear address objection

If you have been informed that we are unable to switch you over to our suppliers because of an issue with your address, to resolve this we kindly ask you send over a clear picture of your electricity and/or gas meter(s) ensuring that the series number and the full meter is visible. This allows us to verify your address and meter(s) against the national database of energy meters to ensure that the details are correct and ensure the correct supply is changed.

Energy charges during the objection

During the objection period, any energy you use will be on your current supply and therefore payable to them. We will not charge you for energy while our service is not live. Please be aware this may lead to a larger bill once your energy supply has been switched.
